answer the phone and keep repeating hello like you can't hear them, then get mad and fuss like it's a crank call.

Scream an obscenity every 20 seconds or so and claim you have terrets syndrome
After they finish a sentence say "what I don't understand" and force them to repeat themselves.
Breathe heavily into the phone even after they ask you a question.
Tell them you are in the middle of dinner and ask them for their home phone number so you can call them back. When they say that they don't feel comfortable giving you that information tell them well then how do you think I feel and slam the phone down.
When they tell you who they are (Mr. Smith, my name is Mary) insist that you know them from the VD clinic. |

I tell them to hold on a minute, I'll be right back. Then I put the phone down and never pick it back up! It varies how long they will hold on before they hang up. |

I had fun one time by asking lots and lots of questions, really getting into the conversation. Then when they claimed they "had someone in the area" I said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I can't do that. I'm in the Federal Witness Protection program. Sorry 'bout that!" Then, I hung up the phone. Wasn't true but then again- it didn't sound like their line of bull was either! |

Well, if they call my Mom's house which annoys me because she is 88 yrs old, here's what I do. Firstly my Dad passed away 52 Yrs. ago, so when they ask for Mr. or Mrs. ******, I tell them I'm sorry Mr. **** passed away today and Mrs. *** is at the funeral. Wow, they can not get off quick enough while saying how sorry they are at the same time. I know it's a little sick but I'd never tell them someone who was alive was dead and it really does the trick. |

ask them if you can have their personal home phone number so you can call them later to discuss the possiblity of a being their customer... then they say I can't do that, and you say well you have my number how fair is that... you can call me but I can't call you... then say oh well I guess I won't be buying anything today from you... |

The best thing to do is to answer the phone, act like you are interested and then ask them to hold for just a moment. Then put the phone down and walk away, continue whatever you were doing (dinnertime is the best for this). After about 20 minutes go back and hang up the phone. |
