It depends on state law, but they are frequently required to give you some notice.
Look up the state statutes in your state to find out.
I live in Florida, and they are required to give 12 hours notice, but other states vary. |

I am pretty sure they have to notify you in some way and you have to correspond back with them before then can come into your place. |

they are supposed to provide you with 24 hours WRITTEN notice before entering your apartment. Some exceptions are made for emergencies but for general purposes it must be written notice.
Also you could check your lease to see what it says regarding this matter. The majority of leases make mention of this. |

You should check your lease agreement which typically states the terms and conditions.
Most leases permit the "management" to enter, for reasonable causes, during business hours. |

They can try to call out of courtesy, but if there is a dangerouse situation or something that could cause a lot of damage, they can go in (water leak, gas leak, smoke). |

Ours gives us a heads-up.
Like when they change filters bi-annually, they post them on the board.
If they need to enter my aparment for say, a leak in the a/c that pours water in the apartment below, they call me before they enter. |
