Do they start you out in a certain position based on what they need filled? Or do they rotate you on many positions so everyone does a little bit of everything depending on the shift? Do the cashiers clean the bathrooms (they do at Burger King) or just wipe the tables and chairs more? |

When I was a crew chief at McD, I would assign all the new people to the lobby. If they couldn't make it through 4 hours of cleaning tables, emptying trashcans, and cleaning the bathrooms, they didn't have what it took.
Typically, they will rotate you through a number of positions, although we often didn't cross-train cashiers and grill people. It also depends what shift you work. If you work weekend daytime, you may only wind up being a cashier, as they have enough people to man the other positions. If you work late night, they need the people to be more flexible.
No matter where they put you, almost no one gets out of lobby duty.
Note that my experience was more than 20 years ago, things may have changed. |

They usually start you out taking orders at the front of the store. I have had several students who have done just that. |

That depends on if it is a franchise McDonalds or corporate. I beleive corporate rotates you but a franchise one can set their own policy. |

i used to work at mc donalds it depends if you r really good at speaking english they will give u any cashing job or they will put u on drive thru
but if u r latino ar hispanic and just got here the only thing you can do is flipping burgers |

Just get my order right.Hey,I worked at Wendy's way back when,and I think they started me with fixing burgs for take-out,then I did the window/cashier position.I think if you handle the food,bathrooms should be for register people,and managers could take over at register,but who asked me?Will you have fries with that,and "where is the beef"...told ya it was a long time ago!! |
