You hate paypal? Paypal is the largest paying system in the world lol. And it's 100% legitimate.
You can do affiliate marketing and niche marketing to make money online. There are lots of legitimate sites, like affiliate programs like clickbank.com, cj.com....
but the point is you won't make any money because you have no idea how to make money off these programs :)

This is a challenge starting on 1st August 2008. The goal is to make your first $10 online (without any money investment, 10$ out of nothing).
Why 10$? Because most people don't make even their first 5$ online and if you can make 10 bucks, you can then easily make much more! 100, 1000 or even a million!
Clickbank sends checks and with commission junction you can choose between checks and credit cards I think.

There are many ways to make money online. The real trick is sorting out the legitimate money-makers from all the scams that are out there.
There's a terrific list at eHow that gives more than 25 ways to make money online. The list covers everything from writing (articles, blogs), to selling photography, to (believe it or not) getting paid for online jury duty, surveys, and focus groups.
There's even a site for making money listening to music and rating it, and another for playing online games.

A lot of people say that making money online is a scam but trust me not all of them are. The ones that ask you to pay a fee most likely are but not all of them.

There are various ways to earn money online, a lot has been mentioned at my Earn Money Online blog, but I will share with you some tactics here.
Basically, you can join Paid-To-Click programs. Such programs will pay you every 30 seconds, yes, every 30 seconds. All you need to do is to create a totally free account and click on the advertisements they display at their site. If you consistently clicked all the advertisements everyday, then you will be accumulating more that what you expect by end the month. In addition, for each referral you referred to that site, you will be earning what they are earning too.
In addition, you can create a nice and interesting blog (with blogspot.com it is so easy that even a computer newbie can do it) and insert blog monetizing tools, such as Pop Up Traffic and Adsense, inside it. All you need is to, similarly, register a free account and just copy and paste the code into the blog. Then, when people come to visit your site, view your advertisements, you get paid.
Finally, there are sites like Pay Per Post which will pay you if you publish post about them. Basically, the advertisers will set a amount, say $10, for anyone who make a post of at least 100 words describing about their new product. If you do it, then they will pay you. This is one of the best way to earn money. However, before that, you need to have your own blog and have people coming to visit your site (you can do this by asking your friends to visit your blog regularly).
These programs are definitely no scam as they are free to join and many people has already received payments from there.
For some of the programs, you will be paid by check. While others will require you to sign up a free account at Paypal or Alertpay. They will transfer the money to there and you can directly withdraw funds from Paypal or Alertpay to your desired bank account anywhere in the world.

Check out treasure trooper.com. (with out the space) I have been a member of a few different sites online, and this one by far pays out the best. I average about $100 a month from this site.
You complete offers and fill out surveys to earn cash. Offers can range from $.50 to $35.00 or more. You can also earn cashback on purchases that you or family/friends make online.
Besides cash, you can also get Amazon and Visa gift cards, and Ipod, or an XBOX 306 (soon will add a Wii).
There are also many contests on the forums. There is a $100 treasure hunt, where just for competing the hunt, you get $100. The most recent addition is the slot machine which you can earn cash and prizes from as well.
