Where does charity organisations staff get paid from?
How do charity organisations generate their revenue??

Yes, they are non profitable organisations but what I'm concerned with is that where does the money come from for the PAID employees of the organisation?

Is it the donations and charity earnings that are compensated towards the staff income????

thanks in advance

General donations usually contribute to the paid employees salary. Certain organizations are also part of a bigger group or union of organizations and split their profits in different ways. I believe organizations dedicated to research and other such medical and humanitarian advancements could also cut a part of the donations made to different businesses and hospitals(my job is currently doing one that supports several different children's organizations).

Whenever a person or an organization donates to an non-profit organization, it is somewhat understood that part of every dollar goes to support the infrastructure of the non-profit itself. This includes things like rent, lights, equipment and employee salaries. So even if you give $100 to feed the homeless, a small percentage of that will be spent on other things, just to keep the organization working.

from the donations but also some staff may be funded by specific grants from named funds.

for example the esmee fairbairn trust funds specific roles in charities.

The European social fund is similar.

Charities usually apply for funding to pay their staff. There are various pots of money they can access.

oj
most are paid from donations which is why when you donate there is often small print telling you how many pence of every pound actually goes directly to the cause you are supporting versus staff, ad campaigns, media buys etc

kumala
very ashamed to say. when i was really broke i collected for a childrens cancer charity. i got 30% of all the money i collected.-- the guy that 'employed 'me got another 30 %, and so on .-- so for every pound you give maybe 10p might get through

Most not-for-profit organizations are funded by donations, grants (federal, state or private) or a combination of the two (which is the usual situation).

When you write a grant proposal, you have to specify how much money is for wages, staff trainings, benefits, administrative costs, etc.

Some donations are also directed, which means that the donor picks what the money is used for.

The wages for paid staff are budgeted in yearly out of the money received from expected sources. The budget itself is usually set by the organization's board of directors under it's own policies.

by law all charities have to account for expenses

SUBMITCON
listen,"chariable organisation" is a business. for an accounting layman it's as follows: INPUT- donation/funding(government and non- government),fundraising,etc......extreme OUTPUT-scrutinised eligibility for charity, 'artful dodger' discrimination, multiple client problem unadressed.
