It depends on what type of weather you may/may not wish to avoid.
I've lived in Texas and thought it was great. Austin, San Antonio, Dallas/Ft Worth....fun, fun, fun! And the people were very friendly, too. The winters were pretty mild, and the summers could melt your tires.
I've lived in New York and thought New York City was great, too. The potential downfall is the cost of living (and the winter/summer extremes).
I've lived in Washington state, and it was very pretty. It's not too expensive if you're away from the Seattle area.
I've lived in Hawaii, which was great pretty much year round. It is, however, rather expensive to live there. It is can leave you feeling a little stranded once reality sets in that you're on an island ...in the middle of nowhere.
I currently live in the Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota area. It's very pretty here. The cost of living is a bit higher than I thought it would be. Housing costs...ouch! The summers can be pretty bad, and the winters are brutal! |

I think it is really what your needs are. I have heard that Burlington Vermont is a top place for women. It gets very cold in the winter but it is a nice safe city, with lots of smaller towns and villages all around it. There is several large companies there and the school are really good caring schools.. ALso across country there is Ann Arbor Michigan, anothere great place to live |

My city ranks as the best. Sadly, that doesn't say much about the rest of the USA! |

Supposedly Moorestown, New Jersey, is the number one place to live in 2005. MONEY magazine and CNN/Money spent months looking for Great American Towns -- where you would want to raise your children and celebrate life's milestones. Starting with more than 1,300 cities, they settled on 10 winners with Moorsetown being number 1. |

In the Grand State of TEXAS...the only State that can split up into 5 seperate states if wanted and we can fly our flag at an equal height as the U.S. flag..not below it. Also the gas is pretty cheap here compared to the rest of the country, and you can by a plot of land and build a decent house on it for under 150K. |
