Monster.com, craigslist.org
Only 10% of all jobs are advertised. Advertising costs money and hopefully a position will be filled before they have to run an ad. 70% of all jobs are filled because someone knows someone. When I wanted to hire a bookkeeper, I asked my accountant if she knew someone good and I got her. A friend recommended someone she used to work with to be my receptionist. You have to tell everyone you know including your mother's cousin that you are looking for work. Get out the yellow pages and look up companies in your field, call and ask if you can fax his resume over and to who's attention. Fax it over and if you don't get a call back in a week, call the person you faxed it over to. Don't forget there are state, federal adn local civil service jobs, too. |

Depends on what are you looking... Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com are good for entry and mid carrer jobs. If you are looking for bilingual jobs latpro.com is good. But if you are looking for a mid carrer and up job paying more than $100K a year.. go to Ladder.com.
You can also go to any company´s web site an look for carreers, that way you can try on specific companies. |

only 10 - 20 % of jobs are found online. Go straight to the company you want to work for and apply on THEIR site. |

Some industries favor one site over another. For example, there are many architectural, design, & engineering jobs posted on flipdog.com. Ask people in the industry you hope to join. Also, professional organization websites have a job bank section. Find out who is the largest organization in your industry. Another idea is to call HR depts. and tell them you are doing a research project. Ask them where they advertise open positions, how do most new employees come to them? what is their favorite question to ask an interviewee? Do they use employment agencies? If so, which ones? etc. You will gather very useful information this way. Good Luck! |
