Which one would you rather use for payment: Cash or Card?
It is becoming increasingly difficult to check fraud with card payments these days, I seem to recollect that same was the risk with cash at the beginning, well so history tells us, do you think more people will embrace the card option (Debit or Credit) and why do you think so?

cash...i hate using my card...i would rather know what im spending and that is going from my purse and dont have a huge bill at end of month or no money left in bank!!

I would prefer to use cash - then the card people can't profile me.
I was a victim of card fraud when my card was cloned at a petrol station. So cash yes.

Card. Debit card and only debit. I never use my credit card. But anyway, I hate having cash. I feel like if my purse were stolen right out of my hands, I could immediately call the bank and cancel my card, but I can't cancel my cash.
I think of my debit card as cash in a way as in it comes right out of my account. I use Microsoft money, so every time I spend money with my debit card, it is automatically categorized. Makes it much easier to budget when I can see where the money is going. If I just take out cash,, what category do I put that in? Hard to say unless I write it down.

mole
ill just falsh my gold card thanks

Julie
I always use my Debit card.Very rarely have cash on me.Just find it so convenient even abroad.

I prefer paying by credit cards because:

+ If the merchandise is not up to snuff I can contest the charge.
+ I get an interest-free loan for up to a month.
+ I get rebates ranging from 1% to 5% on all my purchases.
+ It makes it easier to account for all my spending.
+ If my credit card is lost/stolen I have protection.
+ I don't have to carry much cash (even many fast food places accept credit cards now).

Ollie
I do not trust credit cards so i use cash then i know exactly how much i have spent.

If you have ever been audited by the IRS, you will not use cards or checks again. When the auditor can sit across form you and tell you how much you spent of liquor last year, you feel like they have just gone through your under-wear drawer.

Cash. On payday I make my bloke drive me to a cash machine and stand with me while I draw out enough money for shopping for the month. Too much fraud risks. A mate of mine who doesn't check his bank account daily like I do, recently got a letter from his bank telling him he'd been reimbursed £500 + because a petrol station he used somewhere had taken his details and had gone on a shopping spree.

People will continue to use Debit cards because they don't have to worry about finding a place to cash a check or use an ATM machine. Change doesn't accumulate when you use a card and you don't have to handle dirty money.

angelbaby
I like to pay with cash. I only got a credit card to gain credit, and because I've heard that you need one to rent a hotel room or a car. So basically it's to buy things here and there and pay it off right away just so I have some credit history, or for if I am ever in an emergency situation where I don't have enough cash on me.

But a lot of people would rather carry a card than worry about having the cash on them.

More and more people seem to be doing so. I still prefer cash. That way I know for fact exactly what I have at all times and what I can spend where. Its just safer for me to not have any doubts on my limits LOL

Cash is equally unsafe. There are bag snatching/robbery etc.Credit/debit cards are safe. But you never divulge your PIN no to any body.Change it every three months.Keep the cards safely,Keep a record of card number and contact numer and address of issuing bank report loss of card/theft of card etc.Do report immediately.
Many unscrupulous people will ask your card details through initernet and NEVER GIVE THE PARTICULARS.Your bank will never ask through internet.Internet purchase/shopping is risky. If at all essential verify and ensure that it is a secured site,
People are swiitching to cards because it is convenient ,many banks offer free cards and rewards for use.

saved_33ad
It dpepends. What are you using it for? Can you recieve points on your credit card towards a hotel, flight, or money back? Can you afford to pay for it all without collecting interest? I use a credit card a lot but I budget well. You don't want to get into a hole. Good luck!

I use my card and then pay it off immediately.

ijcoffin
I use my card to purchase every thing I can with it.
And, I pay it off every month, so I do not incur interest charges. I take advantage is interest free money by doing that.

For a big purchase, I always use the card, so I have a permanent record of the purchase.

For anything under £30, I use cash so I don't have little bits of money filling up my card limit

Gingerbread Man
Makes no difference the cost is the same but with debit cards I only spend exactly whether with cash I can lose it or fritter it away more easily.

rks
Card. because it is easy to carry rather than cash. However, for local spendings, cash is preferrable because one can keep track and can avoid over spending.
