Both militarily and economically, the two most powerful countries will be:
- United States. The U.S. has the most advanced technology and the greatest budgetary dedication to supporting its military, plus numerous allies and a world-class intelligence agency. It also has some of the most elite special forces (Green Berets, SEALS) in the world. It basically controls space, and its unmanned and robotic technology, plus new advances in nanotechnology, will not be easy to beat.
- China. China is the fastest growing economy, and they've made good strides to become more Capitalist (though they've got a long way to go) and remain sometime-allies with the U.S. Their population is staggering, and an increase in education and military technology will add up to a very powerful country.
Japan doesn't have nearly the same military mindset as other very powerful countries, and their economy has become relatively stagnant. In addition, Japan's population has begun to decline, so it cannot be considered for this question.
India doesn't have the economy to support as advanced or powerful a military as the U.S. and eventually China, though if their government was reformed things could change.
Turkey simply has a large army in terms of number of soldiers, but they lack modern technology, aircraft, tanks, and an economy to support any truly powerful military campaign. |
