The very first US President: GEORGE WASHINGTON was ultimate Commander-in-chief, Founding Father, General of the Continental Colonial Army, Constitutional pioneer, Inventor, Natural leader, Fine horseman, Statesman & the inspiration for the name of the U.S. Capitol, his namesake.

George Washington (February 22, 1732 â€“ December 14, 1799) was the successful Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War from 1775 to 1783, and later became the first Elected President of the United States, an office to which he was elected, unanimously, twice and remained in from 1789 to 1797.

Washington first gained prominence as an officer during the French and Indian War and as a leader of colonial militia supporting the British Empire. After leading the American victory in the Revolutionary War, he refused to lead a military regime, though encouraged by some of his peers to do so. He returned to civilian life at Mount Vernon.

In 1787, he presided over the Constitutional Convention that drafted the current United States Constitution, and, in 1789, was the unanimous choice to become the first President of the United States. His two-term administration set many policies and traditions that survive today. After his second term expired, Washington again voluntarily relinquished power, thereby establishing an important precedent that was to serve as an example for the United States and also for other future republics.

Bill Clinton, I think he did more for the people than any one else. He was always in trouble and managed still to do what was best for the country. He gotta admit he faced a lot of adversity, some brought on by himself, like the Monica affair.

If I said 'William Howard Taft", I would only be lying, so I'll have to say 'none of the above'....I guess I just don't like any of them. Politicians...BAH!

Roosevelt...he made the largest(and best) contributions and changes for the U.S.!

Lincoln. The man basically invented the office of the Presidency as we know it now.

He saved the Union, emancipated the slaves, and extended "malice towards none" to the rebels. The Gettysburg Address alone qualifies him as the best President.

Interestingly, before Lincoln people used to say "The United States ARE" (grammatically correct)...after Lincoln people now say "The United States IS". Pretty amazing fellow.
