My Grandfather still is and he's been gone for 4 1/2 years.He went to work every day not missing a day of work in his whole life even when he was sick or ice storms etc.He took care of my Grandmother he's wife as if she were a Queen.When my Mom had financial problems he was there.When anyone in your family needed anything even just a good laugh he was there. |

My father. He grew up in NYC very poor, the child of Italian immigrants... he graduated from high school, got married, worked two jobs and went to school at night until he earned his first bachelor's degree...
He now has two bachelor's degrees, one master's degree, and he recently passed the bar exam to be a patent agent. He is the ultimate Renaissance man: he can cook, fix anything, and work hard.
I would be blessed to have accomplished half of what he has by the time I'm his age. |

Me. I have been through alot in my life. I was homeless from age 5 to 7. I was abused (beaten, mentally, emotional, and physically) until I ran away from home at 14. I then lived with more abusive people until I was 17 and then I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. I have been through alot of crap in my life, yet I still do the right thing. I don't hurt other people. I now have two children of my own, and I am doing the best I can to teach them good values and respect and understanding towards other people, regardless of who they are. I speak three languages, and I am now working towards my Bachelors degree in English. Eventually I would like to become a writer and maybe an actor...I have overcome without the aid of a role model. I can reflect on my own hard times, and how I overcame. I am my own hero. I try hard to give off positive feelings and attitudes towards other people I cross paths with. |

even tho i am not a catholic or even a christian, my role model is mother teresa because she gave up everything but a bowl, the clothes on her back, and her beliefs just to help people. i think it really is beautiful the way someone could be that selfless. it leaves me in utter awe. |
