In the Uk the charges made by card companies for debit cards is between 20 to 30 pence (40 to 60 cents).it is reasonable to expect a spend of a minimum of £8 for the service. |

i think it is ridiclous. paying for a burger by bloody card whatever next. All because card users are too lazy to go to the bank & get the money out. |

yes / no.. if i'm buying something for lunch in a shop and the person in front is spending like 50p on something and using a credit card etc.. it does take longer than paying cash..
if you go on the bus really early in the morning , theres always some joker with a £20 note and expects the driver to have change.lol
ah well oyster card fixed that lot.lol
i don't eat at mc donalds, and rarely at burger king.. or any fast food joint unless i can't avoid it. |

The reason the accepted Credit and debit card in the U.S. they have a deal that gives them a better exchange rate with the credit and debit card companies. Plus they also take paypass which also works with Visa paywave. Those transactions are even cheaper.
Paypass and paywave are tap and go cards.
From reading the above posting. It sounds like most U.K. citizens are not ready to use their debit or credit cards like the U.S. and Canada does.
I don't know if they will accept credit cards, this depends on what the fees will be.
U.S. debit cards will not work at McDonald's in the U.K.
Most U.S. debit cards must be ran as a credit card outside of the U.S.
If your card has a Visa plus aka Plus or Maestro and McDonald's takes it. It might work as long as your bank does not block the pin transaction. |

Yes maybe they will learn how to make hot fries and keep them hot instead of lukewarm- now that would be an achievement! |

It is ridiculous. US McDonalds' have accepted them for years. |

Boycott them until they do. Card transactions cost the business about 2-3% of the transaction so it costs them to accept your card. They will only increase the price of the goods to cover it so, it's cheaper for us to pay by cash. |

It makes perfect business sense. There is little point in allowing the use of a card for which they have to pay service charges for transactions of only a few pounds. |
|

PS
 |
I agree w/ another answerer that accepting debit and credit cards will only cause prices to increase because of the underlying fees (2 to 3%).
You can bet that no merchant absorbs these costs. They simply pass them along to you n me. |

I think it's taking mc donalds far too long to realise that they sell sh1t food and should be shut down as part of the governments new eat healthy policy. |

come on it really cant be worth the transaction fees to accept payment by card for a hamburger and some chips. there are more important issues such as why you cant buy a sausage and egg muffin at lunch time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... |
