Cheap labour - and lots of it. Relatively easy access from a lot of major investors. There are probably Government incentives (the Indian Government) to encourage the arrival of big business too

Because it's dirt poor and the people will jump at the chance to work for what is considered nothing elsewhere.
I'd also say that it's no longer a "hot" destination for businesses. Social unrest is causing trouble and costing money. I believe most businesses have a more cautious "wait and see" attitude about India at this time.

1. The ppl are hard-working
2. The ppl are smart (you know you can't deny this. Indians learn trig and geometry in the 5th grade! -Just like China)
3. The labor is cheap
4. The ppl are not afraid to do tedious and mundane tasks like most ppl in America are...
And, please no one claim point 4 is wrong, because I have seen MANY MANY ppl in NYC alone that prefer to collect unemployment and food stamps then work at McD's or Taco Bell...
