Our constitution says that we are allowed to "bear arms."
This law stemmed from when this counrty was founded. We didn't have an army so the people (rich land owners specifically) we allowed to carry and own firearms to protect their life, property and country.
Today owning guns is regulated by the state laws except regarding fully automatic weapons for which you need a federal license to carry.
California for example is only allowed to have certain guns. Colorado...where I live...we can pretty much have anything.
I do own a Glock 21 and a Glock 30 (45 cal).
I do have a concealed carry permit, but have been trained in the police academy and volunteer in police and sheriff's organizations as well as search and rescue.
I also carry my full size 45 cal when backpacking. We got some big animals here like moose and bear. I haven't had to shoot one yet but they do attack campers on occassion. |

Because good ol' southern George W Bush and Dick Cheney support guns, until one of them almost accidentally kills an elderly man. Gotta love natural consequences. |

Guns are not as easy to buy as you think. You have to pass an instant NCIC background check with the Federal authorities. If you've committed a crime which can bar you from owning a gun, it will come up on the computer. Each state has their own regulations. Each city, or county has the own gun restrictions. There are an estimated 400 million guns in the hands of US citizens. If you are in a country like England, I guess compared to the US, guns are the easiest thing in the world to get. |

we passed a 2nd amendment to protect our guns just because of the limeys. Consider it a compliment. Seriously how is it logical that only people willing to break laws can own guns? |

And so as the kitchen knives in Walgreen's. What's the difference? Why are there so many people still ignorant about guns? Most of the time, when somebody died from an accidental gun shot, they will blame it to the gun's existence. I'm so irritated with some group out there who tries to ban guns (for all I know they just wanna make money). A gun doesn't move by itself, unless someone pulls the trigger. If there's an unlikely event and gun is involve, blame it to the irresponsible gung-ho owner.
Let's say, if someone died from a car accident or a hit and run accident...are you gonna ban cars too?
Yes, we do have guns and we are being responsible by keeping them in a safe place...like VAULT. |

This question and some of the answers back up what i've said in previous questions before. America is a violent and bloodthirsty country. I mean look at tv and movies here. Or our crime and murder rate its the highest anywhere in the world. I get so tired of seeing this God bless the usa crap. If anything he needs to take a close look at us and wonder if were worth keeping around. |

Because the American Constitution gives everyone the right to bear arms, and any restrictions that are in place gives nearly anyone access to purchase a firearm. |
