Maybe it's just a regional thing, but I have NEVER seen a male teller at ANY bank I've ever been to. I was thinking of applying as a bank teller since there's a few job openings, but is it some sort of unspoken rule that men aren't bank tellers? Kind of how you never see women mechanics? What's going on with this?
Maybe men don't like doing that kind of work. But I think that if you apply to be a teller they would be glad to have you work for them! Good luck.

I've noticed, too that most tellers are women but I HAVE seen men tellers. There are two at my bank so it's not a golden rule that men can't be tellers.

There is one guy teller at the bank I go to. He seems to be fresh out of college though.

well it is regional. around where you live there must be more jobs that are desirable by men. around where i live they all suck you you just get what you can. i see many male bank tellers, which in my opinion are much nicer.

i think it may be down to wat was set down when women only did womanly jobs and men only did manly jobs and as a result not many men end up there.

Probably the same reason why most nurses are women. I think it's because some men have certain hang ups with the type of jobs that they were willing to apply for for fear that it would make them seem less of a man but with the economy the way that it is, I don't see anyone turning down any type of job.

There are plenty of men bank tellers around where I live.

there are male tellers at my bank...i think i've seen three different ones.
gender discrimination goes both ways so it would be illegal for them not to hire you just because you're a man...they would need a much better reason than that.
good luck.

there is a group law suit in many states about this issue. It seems that there is sex discrimination against men int this particular field.
