Why are all the workers from Eastern Europe coming over here to work whenever all our companies are re-locating their factories to Eastern Europe ?

Some of you are missing my point,we have 8 Polish workers who are on the exact same money as the rest of the workers,they tell me that the wages in Poland are the same except there is not so much work;however three of our competitors are re-locating their factory to Poland ,so therefore there will be more work there and their skilled workers for that industry are here.
I can see skilled men ending up on the dole in the UK while their jobs go to Poland if that makes sense ! |

Since some of the Eastern Bloc countries joined the EU they are free to work pretty much where they want within the EU.
I heard an employer on local radio talking about the situation and he said that in his business, the Polish workers were hard working and had the relavant skills whereas UK recruits would take up to 4 years to reach the same level of expertise.
This was because the decline of manufacturing in the UK over the past 25 years has led to a skills shortage in many areas, whereas a lot of the Eastern Bloc countries still have more of a manufacturing culture and the skills of their workforce were easy to transfer to those required in UK manufacturing. |

Most of these workers live in abject poverty in their own countries and are not looked after by their own governments as well as by ours - glad they're of use to someone.
ADDITIONAL - I know that the care industry is actively recruiting in Poland, quite heavily and at considerable cost - so it is not only the industrial sector that has the influx.

They come because of the levels of unemployment in their country and the strong GBP means that even on lower paid jobs in the UK, they earn more than they can in their countries and possibly get a higher standard of living. |
