Static electricity builds easier under certain conditions. For one, it is winter and there is very little humidity in the air. Static electricity has trouble building up in a highly humid atmosphere. That's why during the summer time you'll rarely get shocked. Another factor depends on what type of clothing you wear (including undergarments). Static electricity builds more if you wear synthetic clothing. For instance, wearing cotton clothes will build up a voltage of about 7,000 volts, wool 9,000 volts, and nylon about 21,000 volts. So if you are walking around in the wintertime in a polyester suit or nylon windpants, you are almost guaranteed to get a big shock no matter what you touch. |

I touch my sweetie's hand before we kiss when there is a lot of static electricity in the air. This grounds us so that we won't get a shock on the lips :-) |

Most of the time the amount of static electricity in you is directly related to the amount of moisture in the air. If you live in an extremely dry climate, you'll generate more. In the meantime, if it really bothers you that much, you can run a humidifier in your house, and that will help. |

Its winter & I don't know where you live, but it could be the atmospheric conditions, combined with you probably walking on carpet. If this is the case, buy a pair of rubber soal slippers. Should resolve your problem. |

learn to enjoy it, just kiddin probably happens more in the winter huhh electricity likes the moisture in your body .. if its at home i suggest a humidifier to moisten the air. |

It is probably due to the conditions of your living space. Carpeting and dry air are major contributors.
It will not hurt you, other then the surprise, so you can just live with it. Otherwise, wear shoes/slippers if your house is carpeted and humidify they air. (Note: it is better for your feet not to wear shoes 24/7.) Good luck. |
