Wow - yes of course people have thought of it, that's why you have so many choice in religions or the neo-popular near athiest ideologies associated with Godless science by way of the theory of Evolution, which provides absolutely NO answers and especially NO comfort for what you're looking for. Not ragging on Science, but nobody I know curls up with test tubes and litmus paper when they go to bed at night, and if we evolved and continue to evolve based on ridiculous odds why bother to have any order in our societies at all? But I'm biased, I favor intelligent design. And I do believe in a benevolent creator...although how and what escapes me....
Honestly? If you haven't ever tried religion, it might not be a bad idea to look into one that you can agree with, but fair warning, there are SCADS of goofy people therein. Of course, there will be scads of goofy people anywhere life takes you....
It just sounds like you need to believe in something or fall in love to get your mind off the downer side of things. |

but, then I think,
Why do people go on a roller coaster if they know its gonna be over in 2 minutes?... the answer is, because its fun.

I have thought about it Plenty. Why is a very good question.
But if you watch what everything else is here for. You might notice a trend. How everything seems to have a foe of such a magnitude that it will seek out to destroy it before the foe will destroy itself. We Humans have ourselves as foe's. As well as a few otherthings. But some how when you hear a person say the world wouldn't be the same without a particular species to keep another in check. The Human species has to be here to keep something in check as well.
Maybe we are the Masters of the animal Kingdom. We are suppose to be the ones to equal out the unbalanced portion of the animal kingdom with our wit or the abillity to think into the future and plan. For the creatures that don't |

I've thought about it, and got terribly depressed, contemplated suicide, because there is no point. Then i thought about all the good stuff that happens too, and all the people and stuff that i love, and the peoplw who love me. Then I thought, well, it's a fun ride sometimes, so best enjoy the good parts.
If you're into religion, every religion can find a point for you. But i think every person has to find the point of life for themself. There is no one point/objective.
And really when you think about it, the only person you are sure exists is yourself. For all you know, you could be imagining everybody else. :-) |

Our first primal instinct is survival. We WILL evolve. I expect that silicon is the next step in longevity. Someday soon we will be able to store all of our emotions, ideas, life, etc. on a microchip. We will no longer have the need for "flesh". This will allow us to live our life forever. It will also reduce human consumption of our planets resources. The nice thing about this is a microchip can run in absolute zero. It also doesnt take much energy to sustain a chip in deep space. Energy abounds in the empty space of the universe. We will collect energy in our spaceship while travelling throughout the universe while seeking new life, if we make it to this point before anhiliating ourselfs anyway...........LIVE LONG AND PROSPER! |

I've thought about this many times and I believe that we are here to prove we are decent people. I don't see it as a religious thing, I think once we die our life is evaluated and if we screwed up big time we come back. Only we come back to a new life that will be even harder to overcome than the last one. I think this because why would someone be born so poor that they have no food or housing when others are born into a family so wealthy that all they can do is get into trouble to get any attention from their family. (Paris Hilton) Whereas Bill Gates is the richest man on the planet and he gives away billions of dollars a year to charities. He is doing it right. But that's just my opinion. |

Yes, I have. THe only reason that I think I am here is to try and make at least one persons life better, and if I can do that, I know I lived life. That's really it, placing people before ourselves... and if I have made someones life easier, if not two people, then that's all the better... |

All I know is life is about choices and throughout your life you have many. The path you choose, be it good or bad determines your life. It's up to you to make the best choice for you. Yes, you are gonna die so what are you gonna do in the mean time, worry about it. Don't waste your time live because tomorrow is not promised. I say 6ft under and no regrets. |

The answer depends on whether you're religious or not.
If you are: We exist to make the lives of others better.
If you aren't: We exist because of a chemical reaction and later, a biological one occurred several billion years ago. We're simply the evolution of the first form of life and we have no other reason to exist than to continue the species. |
