I don't know exactly, but it is one of the things I keep pointing out to my daughter.....Higher education usually equals less peon work. |

I entered management thinking it would be easy because workers did all the work. After a few weeks I was shocked by how much important work there is that is invisible to workers. Same thing when I became the boss of a worksite, I thought my managers would do all the work. Wrong again! The responsibility and stress have to be experienced to be understood. There's a reason so few workers become managers. It's a very different, less common, and much more challenging set of skills. |

I've been both, I know people that have been both. I know people who are ready to get out of management and go back to just being a worker. The stress is less to just do the work. When you think you are ready to take on the stress of being management, do it. It is usually not as easy as it looks. |

Managers do the thinking which is harder. This thinking consists of organizing, systematizing, prioritizing, synthesizing and all kinds of other -izings. It is extremely hard work and takes up more of your non-working time than the actual physical activity of the workers. |

Employees do the work while managers do the thinking. Though they do less physical work, they hold more responsibilities and make more important decisions. Those tasks are difficult, that's why managers earn more. |

Employees are paid according to the extent to which their activities impact the Corporation or Organization.
Managers make decisions and those decisions can result in increased profits or huge losses. Because these decisions are so critical - the Managers are rewarded accordingly.
Managers are also expected to come up with new ideas that will benefit the organization. |

The skill level of management is the key force in directing the flow of work.So they are paid more. They may be putting less physical effort, but the mental effort is much more.A regular production worker just have to follow how to put the product through, but the Sales Manager has to find out means and efforts to get it sold to pay the worker. |

The goal of any business is to make money. The only reason you hire anybody is to make more money. Managers are hired to bring in more money not by laboring themselves, but by ensuring that those under him are working in the most profit making way possible. They get paid more because they are worth more in being able to make the company more profitable. |

I would say because he/she has been in the same position that his/her inferiors. the manager might work less, but his/her work is much more complicated than one might think. |

They have the most experience, are knowledgeable enough to handle whatever problem arises. Plus they can get called back in any time where you the regular worker can't. |

Managers are RESPONSIBLE for more than a subordinate. There are managers of all kinds, those that actually manage subordinates and those without any direct reports who act as staff to supply support to the decision-makers. This doesn't make them less important. Their output is still valued, or at least it was when the position was created. That can change, however, in a high technology field for instance where change occurs frequently.
The basic functions of management are planning and decision making, organizing, leading, and controlling which are directed at the company’s resources with the goal of meeting objectives effectively and efficiently. The most important of these is leading. Leading involves motivating other managers and employees to carry out the goals of the company (Griffin 7) and is considered by some the most challenging. |
