We make our own purpose. Very few of us start life with a script of where we are expected to go. But, like the old cliche': it's not the destination that makes life exciting, it's the journey. |

Everyone has different motivations for living - some want purpose, some want nothing to do with other people, etc.
People may wonder why they were given the ability to reason and consider possibilties - was it for the sake of wondering?
There's nothing wrong with believing that the only purpose to living is to procreate, which is completely true. But i would say that this doesn't acknowledge the traits that separate humans and animals - reason and the separation of want and need.
To embrace these differences makes us human, and would then give people a chance to embrace what makes them unique. For some, this uniqueness is what drives them to be noticed or identified among a world of 6 billion plus people.
Some people want to be noticed, who knows? |

I think that as humans we need that belief in order to live happily. Humans cannot accept the fact that their main purpose in life is to just BE. We are so full of ourselves that we think there must be some higher purpose to our lives, when really we could just become a pile of dirt after we die. Who knows. |

I read an article once in Time magazine that was interesting.
It suggested that they have possibly found a gene in the dna code they call the "God gene"
They say that this gene makes it so humans are curious by nature about life existing outside of this one.
When you think about it it really does make sense. Way back through the history of the world all races and peoples believed in a God of some type. To not believe in a God you have to be educated out of it.
Perhaps we have a gene inside of us. |

Because we want to feel like we're here for a reason, it causes a lot of conflict between creationists and darwinians. |

Because we live in a society of people that think they are so very important! With no point to life, they wouldn't be important. |

because if they didn't believe in something, then i don't think anyone would do anything. If there is no purpose then why do it? |

Some people beleive that they must be created for a reason. Why else would they be here? If there was no purpose in living, then what's the point in living? |
