manners are not being taught anymore. I am a youth leader and have the kids call me "miss" whatever, and answer with yes/no ma'am. Please and thank you are also encouraged. But, you know, I don't think parents are teaching manners at home anymore. |

Because in this day and age people are in such a rush they don't even take the time to acknowledge each other. This is the reason why I so badly want to live in Wales. It's simple over there. When people say goodbye on the phone they say " tahda" or "All the best." Over here we mostly just hear a click of the phone. We can't even say goodbye to each other anymore. |

1. Sometimes it just a reflex 'Thank you' that doesn't need to be signified; otherwise it may look stupid
2. Most people say 'you're welcome' to a good 'Thank you'; in newer settings, business settings.
3. Sometime it would be better to use 'no problem'; like when you client/boss says a 'Thank you'
4. With friends; 'Thank you'/'Thanks' is pretty common but 'Your welcome' becomes too formal.
5. There are other words people use in a variety of settings; like "That's cool"; "That's fine"; Gesture Smile depending on the setting and what kind of message you want to send to the other person
And ofcourse; a lot of people are just rude/don't care/or are just "acting busy" .... |

these days memory gap is the very reason why some people can easily forget even saying 'your welcome' whenever you say 'thanks'...or worst, they just not in their good mood in saying so. |

Good question. I think a lot of our 'common courtesy' is not so common anymore. I may be wrong, but it seems like people are getting angrier and more impatient all the time, including myself, no matter how hard I try. I think we all need to slow down and take a deep breath and realize how lucky we are to be alive in this wonderful and amazing time in history. |

Probobly because thank you is usually said now as a reflex and why answer a reflex with another one? However, I've found that if I smile and actually look grateful or say "Thank you so much!" instead of just thank you I am much more likely to get a reply back. Good question! |

People still say "thank you?" I thought good manners ended years ago, glad to know some still remains, although you may be the only one left. |

"You're". I suppose people who don't say "you're welcome" irritate you, people who write "your" when they mean "you're" irritate me. |

I reckon people have less manners these days, it's like when I buy stuff from the store. The staff don't even smile or say thankyou. |

Some people do, some don't. It often depends on the situation.
Other times it's sheer laziness. |
