I'm sure in the future it will all be by microchips or barcodes. For now I guess names will do. |

Why does your house, apartment or email address have locater designations?
How do you address your wife or children? Get real. I don't understand your question.
You could give them a number like the German's did in their concentration camps, but it's a lot easier to remember a name rather than a number. That's what a URL name is all about for the internet naming convention used to convert numbers to names (DNS = Domain Name Server) |

So we know what to answer to. |

If not then I'd have to describe: the girl who is 27 years old, with short black hair, highlighted with red color, 5 ft 6 inches, with a slim figure, etc, etc... just to explain 1 single person and still I'd get about a thousand matches. |

Lanah

So we don't have to call everyone Hey You!! |

So that when other's speak we know which one of us they're addressing. Names also have significance behind them-except maybe Taquita-well that does mean little taco in Spanish!-I can't quite figure why somebody would do that to their child.Forgive me if that really means something in another language! When language developped, everything had a name on it-including people. Why do you ask this question? Would you rather we all be referred to as numbers-coming soon! or "hey you!"?? |

It all started in the beginning. God called him Adam, after making woman called her Eve. To distinguish one from another. Imagine your parents, or you having kids, how would you/they know who was being spoken to if there weren't any names. |

lampoilman

Because all the good numbers got used up. |

Answer-Me-This

So that we can be able to address them. Instead of just saying, "hey you" and everybody turning around. |

Mimi
A name is the identity of every human being. |

cecilia

They have names because of the old days for example before they didnt have names but they would only refer to people as the smith guy or john's son wich those names became as johnson's family or the smiths |
