I'm not sure if that is true as a generalisation. Some people hate the Jews for religious reasons - based on the infamous 'blood libel' in the gospels (Where the Jewish leaders take responsibility for the killing of Christ, for all future generations)
Others perceive Jews as being threatening because they are secretive and isolationist, and believed to secretly control much of the worlds wealth. This is a sort of self-perpetuation thing; Jews were forbidden to work in many professions and were persecuted in christian communities, which forced them into ghettos and into money lending. |

As I understand it it's mostly due to the fact that Jews have traditionally controlled the money of the world, hitler persecuted them in Germany originally because they controlled all the banking. People associate Jews with money and greed. I think people USED to be pissed off at them because of Jesus's death, but I don't think that's really the case, I think it's mostly due to money issues, being very shrewd and uncaring for others just to make a buck. |

religious groups always dislike eachother in some way or another, but being a non-religious person, i couldnt really care less what their religion was it isnt even a question i would ever ask. its just prejudice to say 'i dont like himbecause hes a jew' maybe you dislike a jewish person, but its not to say the rest of them act like the one you dislike. |

I'm not Jewish, but have worked and associated with many people who are, and have an overall very positive opinion of that group - my stereotype is someone bright, hardworking, and interested in culture and education. Any group obviously has bad apples, but I don't understand why you ask this question. |

I think when you say "people" that's implying a majority of people dislike jewish people, and thats a bit of a stretch I think. For one, not everyone in America lives around a large Jewish population, and therefore have no opionion on Jewish people. For two, not everyone who lives around Jews dislikes them. Some Jewish people are quirky, just like whites have quirky people, and blacks, and mexicans, and asians, and so on and so forth. Some of these different quirks seem to be more in certain races than others. I don't know if it's a self fulfilling prophecy, or if it's just reality, but some Jewish people are cheap complaining people, some white people are uptight/nerdy and can't dance to the beat, some mexicans grease their hair back, and mow lawns for a living, some indians own dunkin donuts and 7eleven stores, some blacks love chicken and hate work. But what race doesn't love chicken, or work at dunking donuts, or mow lawns for a living, or grease their hair back? Which race doesn't have people that can't dance, or that aren't uptight and nerdy? And last but not least, which race doesn't hate to work. People don't like jews in general because we (as a society) are stupid. And there are people all over who place labels on a whole race based upon their experiences with a couple of people of that race, and thats unfortunate. |

I think it may have to do with their being different in terms of beliefs and values. In the town I grew up in, they tried to change the way things were done in terms of a big holiday celebration because it interfered with their big holiday. That is just one example. Clearly, it was a miscommunication. The town had a big thing every Columbus day and the Jews in town (at least some of them) wanted to move the celebration to another day. It created a lot of resentment. Also, the Jews wanted school to be closed when they had their holidays so their children would not miss anything. I think there is jealousy as well because in very affluent towns, there are a lot of Jews. They don't share a lot of the same values and beliefs. It can create a lot of tension. I'm not saying this is how I feel. This is my observation and what I think. It's just an opinion. It could be wrong. |
