Who knew I would ever applaud an ego!! ((clap clap clap))
I so agree with you. And it seriously comes down to laziness. Some of the most intriguing questions I've run into are three months old. I love going back in the archives to questions that are "unresolved" with one answer. Usually they are unresolved because they are 'deeper' than the average question and have required a little more brain power than the average bear is willing to put forth. (does this mean my ego is pushing forth now? sorry) I find that the one answer that is already there is usually amazing.....mostly because someone of wisdom was clever enough to find this question and attack it. But in all seriousness, there are some pretty amazing questions hidden months back.
Your point, however, is that we aren't even willing to go back even 24 hours. (true) I for one have been doing a lot of "whining" lately about the lack of substance in many questions. I should probably get off my duff and see what else is beyond the obvious. Thank you for the wake up call!

Its too much work to chase questions that have scrolled off the front page. |

Yeah, thats true. I usually choose topics which I want to answer, and if a question is not answered in 1 hour, nobody answers. If its a technical or medical question, that usually happens. Stupid questions get the most answers. |

Usually I only deal w/questions that have been closed for answering (too lazy to think?). An easy vote, I suppose. But if I find a question I can answer, I don't care too much about how many/few points I get.
Here's to laziness (yawn). |

The easiest questions to answer are those that are at the front of the page, whether it is the all category page or when it gets broken down to individual categories. Few people explore beyond the first page or two. If it is a hopping category the question can come obsolete within fifteen minutes, in quieter ones, 12 hours.
For those answering questions, click on your favorite category and explore deeper into the pages to find questions that are older and still need help.
Wow yekis, clicking on a few pages is time consuming? It is pretty hard to press that finger down. |

most of the time someone already has your answer when you get to the question, so it's not worth your time just to repeat what someone else said |

it's easy to access? |

No, people will often see a question in the 'recently asked' section and will answer because normally they know an answer.
Some greedy people do it for the 2 points |
