It started 10's of thousands of years ago. When the ancients were dividing up the lands among themselves, they told their followers that they were "gods" and they were not to listen too, or believe in, the other "gods". They started their own practices and forms of worship. These are what our religions of today are based upon. They went to war with other city-states to insure that they alone would be thought of as the supreme "god". Whomever had the biggest and strongest army of followers would have their beliefs and practices forced on the defeated. It didn't matter what their beliefs said that they were to do among themselves, it didn't pertain to the non-believers. These practices are still being carried out by today's religions without their knowledge of how it all started. |

Religion of itself doesn't do anything. It is how some people interpret religion that causes them to become angry, hateful, and start wars. The vast majority of religious people are peaceful people, but peaceful people, by and large, don't make the evening news. |

There are times and places for war. It is inevitable. However religion is but one reason. Wars are fought for many.
Hatred and anger are very rarely the by products of religion. More so it is the misinterpretations of religion and things done in the name of religion which cause these.
My religion tells me that I am to be compassionate and forgiving and that my God is as well. It also say to not tempt Him and the "He" will judge the just and the unjust.
To often people seem to take the matter of judgment out of the hands of God and dispense it as they see fit. All in the name of religion.
So lump: Greed, lust, envy and lack of knowledge into the mix as opposes to using the term religion for the actions of those not truly believing.
Truly "believing" in any thing means following it to the best of your ability, not picking and choosing what areas you like and ignoring those you don't.
And religion is truly not bringing "just" these things.
Christianity in particular has brought a great deal of positive things to the world.
One small example is the U.S. Gulf Coast. Look at how many religious organizations donated millions of dollars to help out. And are still there donating time and resources to help rebuild these areas.
That is compassion, and giving and love demonstrated on a huge scale. |

People who truely believe in religion don't bring what you mentioned, no religion in the world promotes hatred. Religion is faith, its something you believe in deep down. I f you don't have faith you dont believe...I think you should learn a little more about religion, you'll find out alot and you might even change your mind. |

1.Religion word is related with realize, therefore when people realize their mistakes they feel guiltiness in themselves.
2.Religion word contains this meaning in itself that is 'to prevail' means to persuade someone who is greater. Only God is great so people try to prevail Him by prevailing system of faith in and worship Him this is religion.
3.Because they all are waiting for a miracle of changing their lives from bad to good through religion.
4.They also think that the religion is like a lawyer who will make advocacy for their evil and bad works. So people still believe in religion. |
