For the same reason that non-Jews see it fit to write it the way you have instead of G-d. The way you write it is just as disrespectful to Judaic custom as the way others write it is disrpectful to Christian custom.
Yet, I don't expect you to start omitting the O anytime soon. Why? It's not part of your tradition - it's not what you believe. Similarly, why should those who don't believe in the Christian construct of God have to follow your tradition? |

Why when I'm chatting to I call my friends bob and bill? It's odd...I don't even necessarily believe in God, but I generally capitalize His name...see. :) |

You not only have to believe in God, but you have to have the application of what God want's. Just believing is not enough, you have to apply what God want's you to do while we're all alive. That is to have all the human positive's qualities to share and spread thoughout the world. It just doesn't seem to be that way now a day's. "Be good and God will be good to you". Yes i am studying English in college, and God should be capitalized, regardless if you believe or not. God is a noun, a proper noun, therefore it is required in proper english to be capitalized. The lack of capitalization stems from laziness; or a sign that the individual is mightier than God and does not need to capitalize his name, which not only constitutes disrespect towards other people, but a sure sign of the lack of intelligence on the writers part. |
