Emma | Why do some people not shop at Wal-Mart? |
My dad says that some of his partners at work wouldn't dare to step into Wal-Mart. Why? I mean you get really neat stuff for a very cheap price. You would be saving money. |

Haha people that don't shop at Wal-mart because of unethical business don't know that much about business or the industry to begin with. They just know what they hear on TV.
Wal-Mart is on top of the retail industry chain and for good reason...they do what they do the best.
If you are against shopping at Wal-Mart then don't but where else are you going to shop?
Try the local supermarket. Way back when they wiped out the little mom and pop specialty markets by selling a variety of goods under one roof how dare they!!!! They were also criticized just like the Wal-mart supercenters of today.
You got a locally owned "mom and pop" store in your neighborhood? Good. Ask the cashier how much they make, if they have any benefits, and if they pay taxes. Most pay crap wages under the table with no benefits. If Wal-Mart tried to do this it would be all over the news.
Wal-Mart lowers their prices to bring in people and drive people away from other businesses. I've never heard of anything like that being used by any other company!! (*cough" Target *cough* circuit city *cough* Kroger) Sounds like America to me.
Whether you like it or not the world is not the same market it was even 10 years ago. Many of Wal-Marts innovations are used across the retail industry, so it's not just Wal-Mart that is benefiting.
In reality Wal-Mart is creating markets where other companies have failed. They are creating profit for companies and that creates jobs indirectly.
Bottom line is the only way to escape the crazy capitalistic market of America is to move to a farm and grow your own food. |

from wikipedia, take a look at the whole article too:
Several groups have criticised Wal-Mart's policies and/or business practices, including community groups, grassroots organizations, labor unions,[1] religious organizations,[2][3] and environmental groups. In particular, several labor unions have specific concerns regarding the company's anti-union stance, as well as several employee relations issues. Other areas of concern include the corporation's extensive foreign product sourcing, treatment of employees and product suppliers, environmental practices, the use of public subsidies, and the impact of stores on the local economies of towns in which they operate. |

Walmart is considered a low income retail store. We have several of them here in the Dallas Texas. When they first open they are very nice and I have shopped there to get some good bargains, but as the new rubs off and they get shopped in more and more, they become dirty and nasty and not worht the effort to go to. |

Wal-Mart is scary and ghettofied and the few times I went in there I felt dirty when I left, like I had walked through a hall of poop. |

Some people like to purchase quality products and Wal-Mart does not sell quality products. |

Because of Wal Mart, millions of "mom and pop" stores have had their business stolen from them.
While I do feel sorry for those who are just trying to make an honest living, I am also aware that if I have the option of going to a local hardware store and buying a hammer for $10 or going to Wal Mart and getting the same hammer for $3... I'm gonna go to Wal Mart! |

I can't speak for everyone, but I won't shop there because they sell so many items made in China, where workers are paid horribly and the communist government continues to dole out horrendous human rights abuses. If they showed more concern for workers rights, here and abroad, I would consider them again. |
