Does make you wonder, huh? About as bizarre, when I was attending LSU some years ago, in an effort to accommodate the visually challenged, they attached small, plastic braille plaques outside all the classroom and office doors. The thing is, all that was on the little tiles were painted on dots. To the touch, they as smooth as a bathroom wall. |

ATM machines are mass produced for security control and administration purposes. The ATM machine that you see at a drive-through location will most likely be the same type of machine you would find inside a bank or a mall. However, if you were blind, going to an ATM over teller services is questionable. A flawed design probably. |

It's a standardized machine. They've got to have Braille on the walk-up machines and it's cheaper to make them all the same instead of two different kinds when it really doesn't matter. And besides, everybody wants to sue somebody for something. So, better safe than sorry. |

So the blind drivers can use the ATM, silly. Haven't you heard of the Americans with disabilities act?
More seriously, banks are so scared of lawsuits, they are just probably covering their bases. You know just in case there is a blind passenger and they don't want their driver to know their PIN. They drive up to the ATM and blind passenger gets out of car and walks over to ATM. |

blind ppl have drivers that take them to do errands like going to the bank. having adaptations like braille and handicap ramps are required in many areas so ppl are not discriminated against because of their disability. |

Not all ATMs are at the drive through part. You can walk up to other ATMs and use them without being in a car. All of them use the same parts and it's cheaper for the manufacturer to make the buttons exactly the same for the standalone ATMs as well as the ones you drive up to. |

Because that's how all ATM buttons are made and they don't want to spend the extra money to make ones that don't have em. |
