Gas and oil are commodities. They go up and down for various reasons.
Supply is up. Demand has been down. Prices go down.
Think of this, and I am talking about our country, USA.
Prices were getting very high. Many people got smaller cars. Many people cut back on trips, drove less.
That all adds up. Less gas being bought, the price goes down.
Now some may come up with conspiracty theories, thats bs. One would be politics. The Repubs want to look better, so they fixed the prices. Well, the politicians have nothing to do with it.
The other would be the oil companies want to get prices lower, so we are less enclined to seriously start using alt fuels, thats a stretch too. The OPEC people are just morons who were blessed with having oil. Have you seen these people!

Prices go up in summer when people tend to take vacations/road trips
now that summer is over less road trips and people will start to find other ways to get around unless prices go back to "normal". |

because to many speculators bought futures contracts thinking there would be more demand and market pressure, and when it didnt hapen they had to cut their losses and dump them |

Because it looked as though the Republicans were going to lose many seats in the upcoming elections. So the oil companies and the speculators, afraid of that, pushed the prices down.
Certainly China and India did not suddenly stop using oil. Their useage was one of the reasons (lies) given to us for the high oil prices. |

Because the huricanes are not destroying the oil fields right now. This is only part of the reason I do not know the other part right now. Just enjoy it while it is down. |
