Why does diesel fuel cost more at the pump than gasoline?
Diesel costs less, in terms of energy, to refine versus gasoline which has more stages of refinement - Yet diesel costs more at the pump! A big portion of our economy is dependant on diesel fuel i.e., shipping, freight, the generation of electricity etc., and the higher pricing of this fuel has a direct impact on materials handling, building, energy etc. Has anyone investigated the price gouging of diesel fuel?
diesel costs more because, more businesses use it. Diesel is needed more in the US market than gasoline nearly all delivery vehicles use it and since it is needed and people heve to get it, prices go up- even higher than gas.

I've investigated what they call biofuel or bio diesel which can be made in your garage, google it and read about it for yourself sounds sketchy but some people swear by it.

Around Va it is lower at the pump.

It is a supply and demand question. Where they can establish a better supply of it, it becomes cheaper.

Thats a great question...It used to be much cheaper years ago..much .cheaper then gas.
I think truckers get their fuel 1/2 paid for or discounted so gas stations take advantage.. Just a theory

You know I've wondered about that too. In Germany, Diesel cars are more expensive to buy, but the gas is cheaper than regular or super.
takeashot30
Like you said it is used for everything. Maybe its just too much demand for the supply.
