Why does saudi women cover their faces?

Every society in the world has laws as part of its structure. These laws are written and codified so that anyone who wants can look them up in public libraries. Every citizen in those countries knows the law; if they donâ€™t, they can easily find out. Unfortunately, there is much vagueness about Saudi law, especially when it comes to social conduct.

Worse still, there is a government body known as â€œThe Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.â€ It is known generally as the mutawaa, or religious police, and they operate all over the Kingdom without laws or written guidelines.

Their mission is to stop corruption in society â€” which honestly they have been doing very well. They shut down brothels, crack down on drug traffickers, and detain people who do forbidden things in our cities and towns. For that we give them credit. At the same time, complaints from the public against the narrow-mindedness of some of the organizationâ€™s members are on the increase. Instead of being something to be proud of, most members of the public fear the organization as if everyone in it were phantoms or bogeymen.

People hired to do these jobs should be of the highest quality and possess considerable religious knowledge. That is not, unfortunately, what we see in reality. The reality is people in our streets and malls who are obsessed with women who do not cover their faces in public and who are implementing their own version of the law according to their own personal beliefs.

â€œCover your face woman,â€ â€œFear God,â€ â€œThe abaya is supposed to be worn over the head and not on the shoulders.â€

Well, it actually is their choice,(or not, if they have a really A**hole husband), and its mostly religious to reduce lustful gaze, and like not flirt or anything

Because beauty is considered evil! If a woman shows her pretty face, then some guy will get all horny, and have naughty thoughts.

b/z they dont want to show there faces to any one expat there husband

Its there culture men made them wear that so as to not embarrass him or his family

part of their culture

So they don't have to shave. just kidding, It is less likely that a man will try to lure them away from their husbands if they are covered up.

Many of them were compelled to do so by law others following the religious practice of hiding their face from others except their husband

its their culture they only let there husbands see there whole face and there hair is like a sexual thing i believe....

not sure but i think bec. they believe that they should take care of 'em coz God gave it to 'em

to comply with their religion and culture. their religion doesn't allow them to show their faces to anyone other than the husband or close relatives.

do you ever whatch tv.? obviously not. its agaisnt thier religion to show their faces in public.
