Johnny Knoxville | Why don't people see what Wal-Mart is doing? |
Why don't people see that Wal-Mart is destroying small businesses and small town america? Their putting small business owners out of business. If they ever put them all out and their the only place to buys things, then they'll be able to charge whatever the want. One day you might be paying 5 bucks for a stick of gum because there will be no other places to go buy it. Also if you buy meat from Wal-Mart and you have children please stop now! Read the label it says enhanced with solutions, those preservatives are not natural, please go to your local grocery store and buy fresh meat. |

I see it...for this reason I do not shop there anymore. I also do not shop there because they sell the abortion pill without prescription. I think that abortion should be the woman's educated decision. Anyways, they are not that cheap. Managers pick an item of two a day to be on sell. Sometimes you can find cheaper things at other stores. I feel for the small companies. I also feel for those Chinese people working like hell for couple of cents an hour. Walmart is the responsible for Rubbermaid loss according to the news. I had watch walmart top executive interviews. It is obvious that they do not care about us. I remember watching an executive talking about walmart techniques on making money. He clearly stated that they are about making money. |

I love Walmart. They provide a ton of jobs and super low prices too! Walmart started out as a small business and grew. The majority of small business owners have the exact same goal - to grow. That's just the way the world works. |

If things did not change, we would still have the general store and be using the horse and buggy. Unfortunately the mom and pop stores cannot handle the business of the millions of people who are living in the U.S. now days. There is no way they could stock enough groceries, and other items that we use in the little stores. The things that we would be buying would be extremely high because of their inability to buy in large quantities to be able to pass the savings on to the customer. I do not know why you are blaming Walmart for selling chicken that is treated with broth and additives. This kind of chicken is sold at all the supermarkets. It you do not like it, complain to the store manager and do not buy it. |

Personally, I think your supposition is unrealistic.
And..
I'm on a kinda tight income at the moment, I'm not going to spend more for the same exact item just because the lowest price happens to be Wal-Mart.
Besides, Wal-Mart started as a small business, maybe business owners should take some notes. |

I know, it's addicting to go to Wal-Mart, but I just can't resist the low low prices of name brand merchandise!!! |

Wal-Mart provides decent jobs for tons of people. They provide consumers with products they need at lower prices. That means more money in their pockets which is in turn put back into the economy. They pay a huge amount of taxes. They collect a huge amount of sales taxes. Their employees pay a huge amount of income taxes. While some small business owners may end up out of business, the positive impact that Wal-Mart has far outweighs that. Can't YOU see what Wal-Mart is doing? Making a huge positive impact on America. Believe it or not, big business is a good thing! |

One of the greatest American success stories is "evil"? I don't think a retail chain can be "evil" can it? I have literally stood face to face with "evil" and it didn't offer me a shopping cart or great value for my dollar.
Shop where you like and I'll do the same. |

yes, shop at Wal-mart, make China more prosperous for when they want to take over the world
we have an endless supply of stupid useless humans |

Hello

Too late for that now. There's Wal Mart less than 1 min from where I live. And another one just couple of miles away.
I think in few years my bedroom might be Wal-Mart's produce section. SuperCenters are every where.

I totaly agree and surprisingly so do a lot of people that I talk to. I will shop at Walmart for small items I can't get anywhere else, but I spend the bulk of my shopping dollars everywhere else. I see my choices dwindling because of Walmart and I hate it. They seem to be the biggest importers in the country and there goes jobs out the door to other countries. Some people like working manufacturing jobs. I grew up in a city where all we did was make cars. Then the auto makers went over seas. I also hear that Walmart pays skimpy wages. With all the money they make, they can pay their employees more. They are building not one, but TWO new Walmart Supercenters in my area. I have a lot of favorite items that I like to buy at the local stores and I am just hoping they don't go out of business.
I want what I want, not what Walmart wants me to have. |

for one, imma vegetarian n i dont support meat eating, but thats not the case...the case is, i agree. now wal-marts be poppin up everywhere, and they do put smaller business outta business. same as target, n i think k-mart? but, i def disagree w wal-mart...and its gonna make everybody broke as hell! ppl dont realize this, basically because people dont care to find out whats goin on. they dont look into it, n because of they "everyday low prices" it draws people into their business. i think if people spread the word about whats goin on, people could be educated, and eventually when enough people stop shoppin at wal-mart, the corporation will shut down. one way to do this? form protests. get people who are likely to realize whats goin on, rally up enough people who understand this, and eventually by protestin, people will change their mind, n hopefully give up their weekly shopping sprees at the store w the big yellow smiley face;-) good luck! |

I avoid Wal-Mart like the plague, but sometimes when its 3 am and I need cold medicine unfortunately they are the only place open...it especially sucks if you live in a small town like I do and they are basically the only store in it!! |

Maybe because they are not? how will Wal-Mart ever take out every competitor in the market place to sell gum for 5 bucks, not only are monopolies are prevented by the government and is pretty much impossible, no matter how powerful Wal-Mart is. I do believe you're right that Wal-Mart can damage small town economies. i now live in Costa Rica where there is a debate whether to sign CAFTA, and Wal-Mart would benefit, even more, as it already owns most of the grocery stores and the CR version of Sam's Club, although i haven't heard of Wal-Mart's meat, i don't dispute it. But all i really wanted to point out was that Wal-Mart can't really have total control |

I see what wal-mart is doing. I can't go in there anymore because I start crying. especially when I'm high |

It's called free a market economy. If small business wants to stay in business, they need to be competitive. That's how things work. Wal Mart is not destroying anything. Businesses that charge too high prices are destroying people's wallets to feed their own. |

Wal-Mart sucks in general.....only weirdo's shop there. Well at least where I live, they do. |

People do see it, but unfortunately, we're outnumbered by the number of people who don't.
I would rather spend more money to get an item from a reputable business owner who is paying decent wages than creepy sermonizing juggernaut monster Wal-Mart. |

I agree, Wal-Mart is evil, you'd never catch me there. |

People who think Wal-Mart is good for this country is crazy. Wal-Mart has and is still effecting the growth and recovery of this country.
They make most of their money when the economy is down. They
are growing at a fast pace in foreign countries now since the economy is bad all over the world. They are into everything. Alice
Walton the only girl of the family owns 40% of the Lowe's corporate.
In the countries they are in and growing are now buying stakes in other companies. Soon to destroy the competitors in those countries. As of 2009 the Walton family is worth 84 billion dollars and growing.
The Waltons are trying to change politics in their favor
and is destroying our tax revenue which is effecting our social sercurity, Federal and State taxes and City, Medicaid and Medicare.
They continue to cost Taxpayers money for every Superstore there is
200 employees who were getting 40 hours aweek now they are getting 8 hours to 28 hours. Costing taypayers 400,000 per store.
The government is bankrupt making them borrow money. The Walton is the richest family in America and is trying to become the
worlds richest.
The food at grocery stores like Wal-Mart and others that sell food to low income people sell the least freshest food. They sell food that other grocery stores that deal with middle-class
don't want. Next time when you are buying fruits and veg.s see how
long they stay fresh. Most of the time it is a few days. Look at the expiration date and see how long it is on prepackage fresh foods.
Example: sprouts again usually in a few days. DON,T buy meat at Wal-Mart because they are into clone meat. I have seen when Wal-Mart cared for this country and it customers and workers and remember it well. It was only when Sam was still alive. He made his wealth buy selling merchandise that was only making single digits profit. Which then sold top quality merchandise made in the
U.S.A.. When he passed way his chirldren wanted to sell merchendise with double digits. Forcing US manufactures to over seas. The Waltons business practice cut in to the profit of the manufactures and they would not sell any merchandise that would not give them they profit. For example: Wal-Mart decides what retail price they will sell their products to the customers and decide what profit margin they want from each product. If Wal-Mart sold an item for $5.99 and payed $2.00 to the wholesalers. The in between cost if Wal-Mart's profit. If the manufacture needed the wholesell price to be $2.25 per item then Wal-Mart would not sell the product because it cuts into their profit. Therefore forcing American jobs to foreign countries. Even when Sam was alive Wal-Mart was the largest retailer in the country but back then they had integrity and had pride in America. Now they are run by greed and arrogance. We the people have the power to send a message to the Waltons buy hitting their wallet and boycott Wal-Mart. Most people can boycott Wal-mart one store at a time or have a bigger inpact by boycotting all stores across the country at the same time. The workers are getting their hours cut as if they were being boycotted in that magnitude.
Workers have health insurance but can not even afford their doctor visits. I remember how great it was when Sam was over the business I have worked for Wal-Mart for that long and sadly have see his pride and joy be destroyed by his children. I have seen and heard it all. Sam disliked politics but his children especially Alice Walton who is in waist deep in the political arena trying to make laws that favor them and the rich and against the American people and fighting everything on health care, labor and other hot button issues threatening the giant retailer's growth. They tried to get the law changed to rid out the estate tax which greatly effects the low income people but they wasn't thinking about us they was only thinking about saving 51 million on the mother's estate. the Waltons have joined a coterie of wealthy families trying to save fortunes through permanent repeal of the estate tax, government watchdogs say. The election of President Bush and more conservatives to Congress gave monmentum to the long fought effort. The Waltons add more.
" To see the weathiest family in America weighting in is scary." says
Chuck Collins, co-founder of Responsible Wealth, a non-profit group that tracks the super rich. The economists are very worried about Wal-Mart's in pack in the recovery of this country. We the people have the power now it is up to us all to unite this fight against Wal-Mart. We can show them what we need and what we want to buy instead of being manipulated into buying poor and dangerous merchandise for their wealth. |
