If it were your money, would *you* offer it to the car companies?
Didn't think so. |

because bill gates donates to better charities such as helping homeless people. |

They are shrewed business men not stupid like uncle sam.
Why bail out someone who cannot run a company? |

This is not the problem of Buffet or Gates, they have their own empires to run. The auto industry did not have to flop, and the CEO's do not NEED private jets to fly to D.C to ask for money.

no one will offer up thier own money, that's the beauty of politicians they can spend your money and not care.
gates has already donated enough to negate his own taxes, anymore would come from his pockets and that's not how donations work. they are used as a tax loop hole. they still lose the same amount of money but can choose where the money goes rather than pay taxes and have the money go to the govt or where ever. |

Bottom line is they would have to pay him back.
Us THEY WOULD NOT.
I would love to rent a limo + show up w/my hands out for $$$$, I might even get it!!! |

Why should they? it's their money and not really their problem to sort out. |

Well, here's the thing about successful, wealthy people: they don't want to throw their money away. Bill Gates may be a huge donor to charities, but the Big 3 don't quite qualify as such. And, no one wants to invest in American auto companies because they really can't quite get it together to do anything (such as make a profit, go green, compete with foreign automakers, etc), so a decent return on investment seems an unlikely prospect. So, what we're faced with, much as in the banking crisis, is shelling out huge sums of government money to the same people (bank and auto execs) who screwed it all up in the first place. Ironic, no? |

Because it's not exactly THEIR problem. And besides do you think even Bill Gates have 25 billion dollars lying around? |

why? because only those who have nothing can afford to throw it away.... |

why would he
he has earned his own money he is not involved in the auto industry why
would he risk losing his own money cause they have failed i would say just let them go bankrupt if its a free world then if u fail u deserve to go under not to b helped out by the goverment if ur local shop owner is going bankrupt the goverment wont help him out so same applies |

Why? Gates, Buffet etc invest in winners only. Why throw there money at a failed buis model? Made your bed big three now lie in it. |

Everyone is feeling this recession. The DOW is down 40%. Not everyone has liquidable assets and are accustomed to a life style. But the auto industry messed up and now they want the citizens to pay with this 25 billion bail out. I say send them bankrupt. They wont reduce costs to us who purchase and loan restrictions will still apply. Dont feel sorry for them. They have been making millions on borrowed money for so long and we have to compensate. HECK NO!!!! |

Why should Bill Gates waste his time with any other business? That's the dumbest question I have ever heard. |

They don't want to throw their money away anymore than I want the Government to throw my money away by bailing out the automakers. |

what does Bill Gates have to do with the Auto industry, his business is doing well. You can't just offer them money and not have an idea that will fix their problems, otherwise they will keep doing the same mistakes. |

Most people, including the rich, avoid investments in things that will make no profit. These companies are dying. Maybe if they hadn't invested so much into gas guzzling junk that nobody wanted, they would be in a better position to manage the recession. |

Because they are private individuals and it's really not their responsibility. Our government can spend countless billions on war, but they can't seem to find any money to help out it's own people... sad... |
|

Elliott Smith

Because they know full well that GM will waste it. They've had 20 years to catch up to Honda and Toyota. They CAN'T do it. I don't want to see them go, but if we use that logic, every failing business should be supported although 90% of them are due to poor management or products.

because.. If you were a super rich billionare would you waist your money on some other rich people that are releasing co2 in the atmosphere with there cars. And just so you know they asked the government for tax money, they got there in their PRIVATE JETS! |

i dont like any of those companies to begin with. because all of them are pieces of junk. everything breaks. but yea, i think they should share a little. but i mean, they earned it. but also, im sure the interest rate would be high just because of who they are. they only have so much money anyways, so they cant give loans out to too many people based on the fact that cars are between $15,000-$50,000 |

The rich only part with a few bucks when it makes them look good or benefits them in some way (favors, etc). Neither applies to your situation.
And I would like to add that if the domestics made reliable vehicles, they wouldn't be in this situation. Now more than ever people need problem-free cars that last. They can't (or won't) offer that. |
