It's just something I choose not to believe in. Personally, I don't see a problem in what I believe or don't believe in, because it's my business and none of anyone else's. I do have valid reasons for my beliefs (or lack of for that matter), but I just don't feel like getting into it right now. I believe in Science. When I look out my window I see Science at work, and everything doing what it's supposed to to reproduce. I trust my instincs, and I don't think one person has the power or knowledge to tell us why we're really here. (Neither does a book for that matter). |

some of use were brought up to believe, but there are some of us that really wonder if he's good or bad. if he's good why does he take good people away from us and leave the bad ones here and hurt us who want the good ones with us.?? it's happened to a lot of us and it's part of the reason some people either don't believe or question the way things are... |

mabey because if you believe in GOD you have to live your life like there IS a GOD. this makes it difficult for somepeople to justify their actions. it's easier to go arond doing whatever you want. i dont buy to much of that, "if i cant see it, if you cant prove it, i dont believe it" stuff.thats just lame. people believe in lots of stuff they've never saw. and the evidence of God is all around you if you open your eyes |

I need evidence to believe. What other thing in the world do people give their money for something that you can't see, can't hear, can't taste, touch or smell - but people know must be real?
I like that logic of the previous answerer. "It's easier to believe - because if we are right, you go to hell."
Now I believe in a place called Hell. I believe all religious dogmatic fanatics will go to Hell because they are ignorant, irrational, and their moral system is defunct. You do not do something because a book tells you. (You do it because it will be the best solution out of the possible choices.) Now, if I am right and this Hell exists, what do you lose by not believe in God? You can only get into my version of heaven if you DON'T believe in God. And if I'm right, and you believe in God, then you will go to Hell. Haha let's hope I'm not right! Now believe me, I must be right - I used your same logic. |

Because they haven't been taught that GOD is the Creator of everything. They are told that God is just a fairy tale. When you die you will find out. Personally, if I believe in God and you don't and you are correct, I lose nothing. If there is a God you will lose everything, forever. That's a long time to be seperated from God. |

Because they feel no need to believe. Some people can live with the knowledge that they don't know all the answers. Which seems intelligent, to me, but it requires humility, honesty, and courage. And if one believes the universe, and earth, and sentient life, has all come about through natural forces, accident, and evolution, it all seems much more wonderful and precious than if it is all merely the deliberate creation of a supernatural being (so we might care for it more). Across time, humanity globally has invented many different gods and supernatural explanations for existence, and for apparent miracles -- with all sorts of "evidence" sufficient for believers. What makes any one of them likely to be more valid than any other? Because it is the one you're used to? The wonderful thing may be rather that humanity thirsts for understanding. Knowledge is largely the measure of our ignorance. Wisdom lies in recognising it. Most of what we have believed has been proven to be illusion. Illusion believed in is delusion. So this is why so many do not believe in gods, yet find awe and wonder enough -- and ethics and morality simply in rules that experience shows would ensure the best life for all. |
