For real! like at where I work you have to wait forever for people to slide their damn cards when it says "slide card" on the screen! Then they ring in say the machine is busted or I dont know what to do. 'How do you use this?'

One reason is people are so comfortable with the check book, another is that today cards come with 2 options: Credit or Debit. Credit is by far the best way as there is NO transaction fee while debit charges you like you are using a ATM.
So calling it a ATM card is not really the best description. DebitCredit card (depending on what you have) is probably better. If you have Visa or Mastercard on there then you have both.

I was talking to one of my older coworkers about this topic the other day. He has used his debit card once. It is so engrained in him to use cash, that is what he is used to. He said it is just not his prefered method of payment. I, on the other hand, do not carry cash and only use cards.
