You can also think of the word "century" which is 100. Of coure, you would say that you have a century bill, I doubt if one would last that long, unless very well taken care of.

The Roman numeral for 100 is C, standing for Centum or some variant thereof. It's where the word cent (as in penny) comes from.

I see that you've got the Roman Numeral thing about a dozen times here--- so I won't bore you with another mention of it here ---
I'll just tell you that it also came from a common verbal usage of the letter C as a referral to and interchangable with the word "Century"--- a lot of folks in the late teen's actually called the $100 Bill a Century Note--- then along came those swingers in the roaring 20's with their slang and the Century Note became the "C Note" !! Of course ALL this goes back to the reference point of C being the Roman Numeral for the 100 thing !! Just thought it might be of some interest to you !!

.....roman numerals - C is 100
Gaeligekinney
It comes from the Roman numerals.
I = 1
V = 5
X = 10
L = 50
C = 100
M = 1000
So CLVIII equals 158, for example.
So a C-note is a 100 dollar note.

"C" signifying the quantity of 100 in roman numerals, "note" signifying federal reserve note, thus "cnote" signifies 100 dollars.
