They are not supposed to be the same!
Money is measured by what it will buy, the value between each country is constantly changing. |

The Chinese have been selling all the $ they gained from exports to the U.S.A. and buying euros and pounds, therefore ,in simple economic theory, too many dollars are being sold and not enough people want to buy them so the price goes down.
The strong favoured currencies at the moment are £ and euro and we may yet witness a $ WORTH £2.10 and a euro worth $1.40. |

and your asking why...
did you not attend school past the age of 9? did you not study any mathematics?
you have just made a statement and then questioned the same statement as oppose to the first.
That makes you daft in my book! |

Well the US hasn't got the money coming in from us that we had to pay back for their 'charity' towards us in WW2. We finished paying it in December 2006. I would like to think we have some hand in their penury, for a change !Instead of vise -versa. |

Because the exchange rate on currancy sucks for the American dollar right now. Same thing in Germany. The Euro is worth more than the dollar so converting Euros to American dollars is a good deal but you get ripped off on the exchange from American to Euro. |

because of inflation. its demand vs. supply just on a bigger scale.
we keep printing money, so the bills and coins become worth less. also, the revenue of american companies, and in turn the stock market, affect the value of an american dollar. so thats the comparison for a dollar, and the same thing goes on in england
btw, what leslie fails to grasp is the exchange rate is a product of the dollar and euro. also, its not a rip-off, because according to the exchange rate the value of the amount of american dollars will be the same value of the amount of euros
hehe amit's point is a strong one |

because american goverment really wants to convert U.S. dollar to euro. it a political move to get americans worried and ready for switch to euro without any problem because they know americans now are against it. dollar will drop more this is done on purpose. its called one world goverment one dollar or should we say euro! |
