In some cases it is because of weight. |

Because most women have less body mass.
Alcohol is a drug, and any drug has a greater effect on a person with lower body mass, whether male or female.
Another reason may be that by drinking more quantities more often, men may become less affected by alcohol. |

Because most women don't drink as much to start with. |

As a general rule, women are physically smaller then men, so equal amounts of alcohol will hit them harder and faster. |

They usually weigh less. So they get a higher blood-alcohol level faster.
Hey shorty...are you a sloppy drunk? Let's go baby! |

It has to do with size and weight but that always isn't true either. Genetics do play in it as well. I am 95 lbs and can outdrink everyone I know eventhough I very rarely drink and can count on one hand the times I've been drunk. |

"getting drunk" has everything to do with matabolism and relative percentage of saturation. So generally speaking.....if a 100 pound woman who is 5'2 had a few beers, compared to a guy say, 5'9 190, theres a signicant increase in available body mass that can absord the alchohol. The relative blood saturaion would not be nearly as high for the male with the same amount of alchohol |
