because of how they are portrayed in the media! for example when there was the riots in Denmark for that cartoon it was only a small minority of Muslims but the media made it look like it was what all Muslims are like!....but i must ask this I'm a christian and i want to ask you if there was a cartoon drawing of Jesus in the paper do you think some Christian's would riot like the Muslims? i have no personal problems with Muslims but i do think that its more of an excuse to riot if you follow Muslim...I'm not saying your like that.
actually hums2oldies most muslim extremist belive its the only way to get to heaven by killing so no christians were not the same! |

well, cause they are mostly trouble making savages who hate us and our way of life and want to destroy freedom. They are jealous and worthless, the only thing they have is oil to give us. I guess they invented alegbra, about 600 years ago, and that was the last worthwhile thing they did, and i dont even like math. |

Most of Americans don't hate Muslims. Where does this thinking come from? So strange! And,what's more...many Americans are trying to understand the Muslim faith, as a matter of fact.
While it may be more convenient for you, it would be more accurate not to lump all Americans together into one way of thinking. America is a country of many diverse beliefs, cultures, and faiths - it cannot be summed up in a single sentence or belief. |

Don't know about "hate," actually, but most of us are not fond of having people demand our death! |

You said it yourself. They don't know much about them. We tend to hate and fear what we don't know. |

Is it natural to hate and fear that which you do not understand. However, when groups, such as the Christian Conservative, encourage hate and claim that there is a religious war going on, it only plays on those fears.
Extreme Muslims hate Americans and have been brought forth in the spotlight because of violent actions. If all you see is the hate on TV and have no other reference, you're naturally going to view them as a threat.
While the culture is hard for me to understand and I may not agree on most levels with them, I don't hate Muslims. However, I do have a strong dislike for the extremists and I wonder what is being done by so-called allies such as Pakistan to eliminate the threat.
While I don't view Iraq as a complete failure and believed Bush was fraudulant, I do feel the country will eventually get democracy. It won't be the democracy Americans think of but at least the majority will rule. But, that may only bring civil war as there seems to be subtle differences in faith and race there that we cannot comprehend. Wounds in the relationships between the Americans and the Muslim world will take generations to mend. Just like I don't see American Christians changing their views of Muslims any time soon either.
I feel there is only one solution: alternative sources of fuel. It will keep Americans and the "threat" of western culture out of their lives. Israel is in for some dark days when that happens. |

First of all, you spell "American" like that.
I think you are over-generalizing things. Most Americans have no quarrel with Muslims. We know that the majority of the people of Islam are peace-loving people who follow the teachings of the prophet Mohammed, peace be upon him.
Americans are afraid of the radical, extremist leaders in some Islamic countries who profane Islam by calling for the destruction of America.
Americans want to live in peace, cooperation, and understanding with Muslims. |

Where do you get the idea that most Americans hate Muslims?? That is a very generalized statement. |

I think this is an overgeneralization. . . but when it is true, and to the extent that it is true, then it is based on ignorance. |

I suspect that most Americans don't hate Muslims - they hate what the radical among the Muslims do and espouse. It is natural to hate death, destruction, and forced acceptance of any belief/behavior system. Christians can't take a better-than-thee position because we have in the past been caught in very similar ways of thinking; but we can deplore the error in thinking and the horrific results. |

I'm an American and I know that most Muslims are very peaceful. However, due to the attacks on 9/11 and many other attacks by young Muslim male extremists, ALL Muslims have gotten a bad rap. People tend to overgeneralize. |

I don't think "most" Americans hate them. I see fear in people's eyes when a Muslim is around sometimes. It is called ignorance. Also, when the soldiers who have come back from Iraq and Afganistan see a person of this ethnicity, it might bring back negative memories. This is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Not hate toward that person, but hate for the bad memories or past situations. |

I don't hate them I used to live in Fremont CA and most of its population is muslim. They are just like everyone else. |

errrr..could it be because some of the people keep terrorizing others? That being said...so do priests.
I have nothing against the nation of Islam, but I do not like some of the people professing to be of that religion. |

Americans don't hate Muslims , plenty of Americans are Muslim ! Americans love freedom, religious zealots of any faith impose their ideals on others and see freedom as a negative thing, they want everyone to believe what they believe, and if you don't they consider you evil.. some Muslims are extremely radical and wish to destroy others that do not share their beliefs... we Americans are not too happy with that particular group...lol.. |

A great number of people are intimidated or scared of what they do not understand. If they know little about a culture but are bombarded by lies...they tend to believe the false truths. It is called ignorance and it exists among all races and cultures. |

Have you met "most Americans"? Then you cannot assume such a statement. I am an American and know and work with Muslims and we get along just fine. |

It's just that they don't know much about muslims. They(americans) base their opinions Looking at only islamic terrorist activities in the world but actually don't know much about the muslims. |
