Because they will make multiple copies for various people, and some inks will not photocopy well enough for everyone to read your application! Most blue inks are probably fine, though. The post office is being conservative. |

Blue ink fades faster than black. They don't want your information disappearing on them! That's why doctors use black ink when taking notes on patients, police to write tickets, lawyers to sign documents, etc. |

with latest technology .. they use scanning machines and computers to copy applications ... the machines photo copy better if something is written in black ink . that's why they ask us to write in black in ball point pen ... |

its because black ink is more readable....and its more "official" looking. Usually its blue or black but i always read to see if they want anything certain. |

black ink shows up better for copies and shows through better when filling out forms with mutiple copies and visually is easier toi read by all people. |

I remember that early copy machines could not read blue ink, so, if you wanted " not " to copy something, you just wrote it in blue.
Most documents these days are scanned by machines....maybe these machine also cannot read blue ink?? |
