Realistically no one is going to hand you £5000. Round here the kids have been campaigning for a skateboard park as there was nowhere for them to go and they were constantly being had a go at. They needed to raise a load of money so they organised a lot of sponsored activites, asked businesses for donations, went to the council to ask them to part fund it. they put together a portfolio detailing evrything and it was very professional. You can raise the money for this if a load of you get together and make it happen!
Here they raised enough money, the skateboard park was built and it's packed with kids every evening and weekend, so good on them.
Good luck. |

just trying to make a difference

if you feel this could be a viable business idea then why not jot down some notes and put a business plan together - you don't have to be trying to make a profit to start a business - it can be a community initiative.

Hi T

Why don't you do a sponsored bike ride, perhaps with some of your mates. Some friends of mine are doing a tandem ride from John o groats to Lands end U.K. to raise money for a laptop, for disabled woman so she can communicate better. It'll cost around £3000, I think. |

Wow, where can you buy a piece of land big enough to do that with for £5000? That's really cheap. To be honest I'd be more likely to buy the piece of land myself and lease it back to you. It's a great idea though. If you could turn the dream into a viable business propersition, ie make it into a properly constructed and organised track, maybe you could get somebody to invest in the idea. Good luck with it. |

Nothing wrong with having a dream, but I think you''ll need a lot more than 5k to fulfil this one... |

Sounds like a very good idea. Maybe you can find people in your area who are interested in this stuff to and put some money together, maybe take out a loan, could talk to local business getting someone to sponsor you. |

Start a campaign. Get the media involved. Get the local council to set aside an area that you can build the park. Get local companies to donate the materials.
That's how the town near me got their skate & BMX park. |

if i had the cash i would, you could always go to a small buisness seminar and ask for a grant or you could approach your local council and see what information/help they can give you because even if you had the cash you would still need to get planning pemission. |
