If the petroleum companies have anything to do with it they will be. They have alot of political power, funding alot of campaigns in congress and they have plenty of lobbyist in D.C. Nothing is going to replace it , until the petroleum companies have bought the major interest in this alternative energy source, then and only then will we have an alternative. |

Yes! I am guessing that you are young (under 40). In the 1970's we had TWO oil/gasoline crises. ALL the leading experts said the world's oil supply would only last another 15 years (20 max). It is now 30 years later, the world has more oil reserves now than in the '70s, and of course, a lot of oil was consumed during the intervening years.
Technology leading to greater supply may still advance faster than world oil consumption. And of course, technology will someday replace oil as our primary portable energy source - but no one can predict when that will happen. |
