Yeah sure we can go ahead and try that, but it won't matter. I have already gotten numerous e-mails where we should all not go to the gas pump on a certain day, and well me and all my friends did it and the price of gas didn't drop one red cent.
The only way I can think of to boycott gas prices and try to force them to lower the prices is to avoid using gas as MUCH as possible. There is a red bottle of gas treatment you can put in your car every time you fill up and to me, it dramatically increased my gas mileage by far. You can get it at Wal-Mart in the automotive section for about 88 cents per bottle. If we all did this, we would hugely decrease the amount of oil and gas consumption and as a whole, the oil companies would be selling tons less of their oil and would therefore be forced to lower their prices if they want to sell any of the crap. |

What good will that do? |

It wouldn't matter, we'd just have to buy it some other day.
If we all traded in our gas guzzlers might affect it more. |

People will just buy their gas on some other day. Now if everyone reduced their driving by 10%, that would help reduce the pressure on gasoline supplies and thereby drop prices at the pump. |

Wouldn't be even better if we all bought hybrid vehicles and didn't need as much gas any more? |

One day will do nothing... To be successful you need to not buy from one of the 3 oil producers. Mobil, Exxon, Shell... If you run a campaign to not buy from the main three then maybe, however, the problem with this scheme is that all the convenient marts buy their gas from one of the three aforementioned so it is really pointless. The best thing you can do is to write letters to your senators, congressman and Representatives.

It sounds like a good idea and I will get involved, but just to tell you they aren't going to lose business because more than half of people aren't going to do it just because they think the results will be ineffective! |

It wouldn't affect their bottom line. You could try boycotting Exxon. They are the biggest supplier and most likely to set gas prices. Use a different brand all the time. |

Um, that won't really affect gas prices, but I suppose if you want to raise general awareness, that might be okay.
Because you'll just fill up on the other days more than average. Overall sales will be the same unless you can get the nation to completely stop driving on Tuesdays. |

it probably wont matter to them, cause eventually you need gas, they'll just get ya the next day. the idea is good, but im sure they dont care |

Stats prove it won't work, but I say we should just go to bikes and horses. . . :P |

I think we all should try "CAR POOLS" |

that sounds good and all in theory, but it wont work, because the fact is, we all need to drive to work, school, ect.....and the oil companies know this and will keep gouging us because we have no outher source of energy for transportation that is feasable yet. |

The idea is good. The result of putting it in practice might not be. First, the bottom line for the oil companies will not change or at least will not be greatly affected. We, as individual consumers, do not have enough power to affect the prices unless we get together in huge numbres and for long enough periods of time. Both things are almost impossible in practice. Then, anyways, you have to go back to the good old gas station and if people decide not to buy gas in certain days, then the following days we could experience lines at the gas stations which in turn might create congestion, delays and probably more gas spent. We could end up increasing their sales and causing the opposite effect. |
