Let me put it this way. If you have a skill and feel you can operate on your own and you survive in the present climate you will survive anything.
Two pieces of advice
1. Get your admin and book keeping up to date it will save you much heartbreak if you do.
2. Get a good accountant once you are earning he may well save you more than his fees in tax
Others may have more advice |

Don't listen to that first moron trying to spam you online. You should report that answer.
Part of the problem with the economy right now is the cost of housing, groceries, gas, in other words, living expenses are so high, they don't have money to spend on other things.
If you are selling a product that people will perceive as fundamental, your chances of selling it will improve. You also need enough money to market your product to people.
In my opinion, you should allocate your resources on getting back into school, finding a job, and putting some money in a savings account. |

It depends what type mate, if you grew food and sold it cheapish then people would definitely buy, also offering financial advice is big business as people need to sort out their finances. Basically people will pay a lot of money to hear yo say "erm you need to spend less" so if your gonna set up a business financial advice is the way(: |

iF YOU WANT TO OPEN ANY BUSINESS YOU NEED TO KNOW ALL THE RULES AND REGULATION AS WELL AS KNOWLEDGE ABOUT SALES, MARKETING, MANUFACTURING ETC.
THE ONLY BUSINESSES THAT ARE MAKING DOUBLE MONEY NOW THE ECONOMY IS DOWN IS IKEA, NETTO, HOMEBARGINS AND ASOS.COM. THIS IS BECAUSE PEOPLE HAVE GOT A LOW DISPOLIBLE INCOME AND WANT TO PURCHASE CHEAPER GOODS FROM VALUE RETAILERS.
YOU NEED DETERMINATION, DRIVE AND A ENTERPRUNEUR MIND TO MAKE A BUSINESS SUCCEED.
YOU WILL BE CHARGED 20-40% TAX AS WELL AS VAT @ 17.5% ON TOP OF ALL THE OTHER COSTS LIKE STAFF, TRANSPORT, RENT AND RATES ETC.
GOOD LUCK |

Before opening a business go back to school if you can, education is never a waste. Don´t open a business without going on a course to learn how to run a business as many businesses fail not because the idea was a bad one or the product wasn´t good but because they didn´t know how to run a business properly.
yes, times are hard at the moment but there are certain things that people will always spend money on in the UK. If they smoke they will always buy fags, and pet lovers will spend money on their pets. People will always eat and likewise millions are always on a diet, so not only do they spend too much money on food as they are obviously buying and eating too much, but they are then spending money on trying to .lose the weight they put on when they bought too much food.
Oh yeah, the brits love their bingo. |

The only problem with starting a new business at the moment is that nobody at all will lend you money.
If you have the cash and the right idea, go for it. |

The economy is not 'bad' the financial sector has over cooked itself and created some real structural problems especially for the service sectors and building sectors which were over reaching themselves based on a false economy (one built on debt not on real wealth)
If you have a business idea that creates or makes something or even sells a product that is genuinely needed then you will still have demand. Your success will depend on other issues such as location, marketing and so on. It will be the entrepreneurial people who will pick up the pieces and get the real economy moving again.
It is likely that manufacturing and development will become 'sexy' again as the government will realise that real jobs need to be created and these sectors need investment across the range of industries such as automotive, aerospace, medical, agricultural etc.
if you have a business idea connected to one of these (something tangible) you have a chance of making a success. If it is more IT based you need to wait for things to settle down as such things as 'upgrading' systems and software are likely to be seen as 'discretionary' purchases in times of uncertainty. |

To be honest, I think getting a normal job is a ridiculous idea because of all the redundancies going on. It's last in first out. I've just set up my own home business as I feel you can only rely on yourself in this market. If you know someone that wants to earn good money and have a great future please could you direct them to www.amazingptjob.com. I've got my business making a profit in the 1st 2 weeks and I love not having a boss!
