So... my work back in March paid me twice and 4 weeks later asked for the money back.
Due to a bank change I did not realize at first I had one lot of pay in one account and another in the other. I decided to transfer it all into my main bank account and advised my employer (agency) I would contact the bank whilst they also said they would try and track the money by putting a tracker on the wire?
I am guessing i should just pay it back but I wanted to know would they track it and what would you do? :) is it finders keepers or honesty.... |

If you decide to be honest about it....it is your decision on how much and how long to pay it back, being their mistake.
They do not have the right to deduct anything at all from your pay. They can only do so with your permission. Their mistake, they are responsible to suffer any loss. |

They'll make you pay it back anyway, trust me, they'll find out. Best to go ahead and give the money back now. People seldom get away with keeping money that isn't theirs. |

Yes, you have to pay it back for several reasons:
1. Its the right thing to do
2. You're legally obligated to pay it back and they can sue you for it. Or they can simplify things on their end and just withhold it from your future paychecks. Even though that's illegal, you'd have to take them to court to stop them, and once you're in court, you'll be in trouble for not paying the money back.
3. If you don't pay the money back, you'll get fired. |
