Lots of people do. If you make more money, you can support your family better and give them a better life style. However, the flip side is that maybe their lifestyle will be worse without you.
Now if it's just a matter of making more money for yourself and it's not a situation where you are supporting your family...then it's a no-brainer! Go for the money! Your family will get over it! |

It depends on the situation. If someone knew that they needed to provide for their family b/c they were doing terribly, they might take a job that would pay more yet make them miss out on too much. |

a. How much you see them now
b. How much less you'd see them because of the job
c. How much you NEED the money vs how much you WANT the money
d. Are you referring to family as a parent or as a sibbling?
e. How will it affect your relationship
f. How much extra responsibility is involved
g. Will you have to bring work home and eat into family time even more
h. Will you have to take business trips away
i. Will you be home every night

Everything in life is temporary. If you need to see your family less until you have met your basic quota then there is no problem I would do it. Just don't get caught up with the money and then forget the family because you will loose big time. |

It depends on if there are two parents into play, i recently divorced my husband and i still have a demanding job with good money. but you look at single parents who struggle to take care of their kids working 2 or even 3 jobs. so if the one job will have good benefits then financially you should take it, you do not want to be home more and struggle. I look at quality time verses quanity of time. so make the tiime that you spend with your family worth while. Good Luck |

I always go by "work to live" not "live to work". Once you get caught up in a high paying job it would be difficult to take less. So if your family is important to you, it shouldn't matter, as long as you can pay the bills. |

I think that the only person that can truly answer whether you should a job like this is yourself. Obviously your family is important to you, otherwise you wouldn't have asked. If you are happy with what you are currently doing, are able to stay on track with all the bills we have these days, and are satsified with the time you have with your family then I say stay. If you need the money to stay afloat, it is something that you would truly enjoy, it may be worthwhile because if you are able to have the money - less stress, doing something you like - less stress so the time you have with your family will be more enjoyable for everyone.
Me -- If I knew by sacrificing the time with my family would eventually come to a halt where I can enjoy my family more and provide them what they need more comfortably, I would take it. Don't do it for just the money though - you will be sadly mistaken with the outcome. |
