Desperate to avoid financial meltdown and to spot fashions and consumer trends before they start, these institutions have turned to the planets to divine the future.
"Most academics distrust astrology and regard it as mumbo-jumbo," she says. "The thing is, it works. Nobody's sure how it works, but it does. Most of my clients are business people who are very canny. If it didn't work for them, why would they use it?"

I will trust bankers who are honest , caring and conservative in their financial dealing with its customers. Such bankers are careful in whatever they do including consulting astrologers before making important financial transactions and decisions. They believe that taking calculated risk is an important option as they are prudent and careful in money matters.
Moreover, HSBC Hongkong believes in consulting astrologers and consult them on important financial dealings. As the chinese people are great believers and consult them for all their personal as well as their business well beings

The market is a belief-led system. If enough people believe the market is going in a certain way, that is how it will go. So I suppose an astrologer could tell them how a lot of idiots are going to think.
That's the best explanation I can give. Because astrology doesn't work. Princess Diana had a whole battery of astrologers and none of them predicted anything before her death. |

if astrology worked then why didn't they predict (and do something about) major world events like the 9/11 attack?
the thing is that astrologists (and others like palmists) tend to give 'advice' that is either contradictory or so non specific that it can be applied to any variety of situations with their 'misses' quietly ignored but still paid for by the gullible.
my advice? avoid like the plague - it is a sham or it leads nowhere good |

No, it isn't that i don't believe in astrology - my objection is more along the lines of "well you wouldn't get a scientist to clean your lavatory, would you?" . It's horses for courses. Economics is (very arguably these days !) a more exact science than astrology. |
