I can't give you a straight answer for that without seeing you face to face. I'm willing to bet, though, if you had a room full of Asian-type people, they could all pick out the ethnicity of each.
I had a Lao friend of mine tell me Koreans look like you could blindfold them with dental floss, and someone else told me Chinese eyes slant up, Japanese eyes slant down... And I think Laos means piggy-nose.
Must be something about your face or your build that looks Japanese. Unless it's a bunch of dumb white people that you're talking about.
People are just ignorant. Nobody bothers to ask, because nobody really cares, and we're all perfectly happy thinking that anyone who even remotely resembles you is Chinese (or in your case, Japanese).
Hispanic or "latino" people go through it all the time. And you could take a look at me and figure the red tint in my hair or my freckles make me irish, or my big Streisand nose makes me look Jewish.
Unless you plan to wear a T-shirt stating "I.M. KOREAN" every day for the rest of your life, I'd let it go. |

Sometimes you cant just tell where a person is from by looking at them.. Like you probably couldnt tell that I come from America not Europe, or even where in America like East coast, West coast or middle America. People assume (I know its a bad thing) based on past experiance and the Japenese people are more globaly known. |

Does it really matter? All Asians look a lot alike. Just like a lot of Middle Easterners look a lot alike, a lot of Europeans look a lot alike, and a lot of Africans look alike. It is the part of the world you are from . Don't take offense...it isn't a big deal. |
