You missed out Profit.
The main reason food prices are going up is things like the idiotic edict introduced today that says that all fuel must be 5% bio fuel.
This means that farmers can get more money from oil companies for growing bio fuel crops rather than food stuffs. given the chioce of making a £10000 and acre from an oil company or £1000 an acre from a supermarket what would you produce?
Contrary to popular belief bio fuels do not do anything to reduce global warming , in fact the reverse is true, just look at the countries who have chopped down their rainforests to make way for palm trees to produce palm oil (a major bio fuel source)

no real connection.
any one knows that Tesco has no control over food price production manufacturing.
food prices are controled by production costs, demand, supply.
