A Super Walmart store near me, built in about 2003, has a fairly large truck parking area near the"gas pumps."

And, of course, they also sell diesel fuel there. My question is, have you seen truck parking places near the "fuel island" at Walmarts in your area? And do you think that Walmart is thinking about getting into the truck stop business?

WalMart seems to investigate ANY avenue of business it considers potentially profitable. I don't think that WalMart is specifically looking to get into 'truck stops', since most of its stores are not located such that they have easy access off of interstates/freeways, and that's what truckers look for. However, if this particular store is located thusly, I suppose WalMart might do a truck stop type business there.

We've had an RV for as long as I can remember, and I remember hearing things at rest stops that Walmart's, or at least Sam Waltons dream was to allow RV's and Trucker's a place to stay, and thats why we're always allowed to stay in the parking lots... but recently, whenever we go on vacation, we don't plan on parking at Walmart because they've started putting up signs says "No Overnight Parking". They are killing his dreams/goals which were originally laid out for the business. So the answer to your question, they've always been smiling at the fact that truckers look there for a place to crash. They definitely make a profit over it because I know when we stayed there, we must've walked in at least 10 times to buy things throughout the night lol

They already are. And if you're a pilot, they're already in the FBO business as well. The one at XNA is run by Wally World -- a bit obviously -- and is actually one of the nicest I've seen in a while. I'd say that the FBO model doesn't follow the "Always low prices" tagline though, they are a bit spendy...

They are looking for anything to help them improve their sagging stock value which is lower than that of Costco and Sears Holdings(K-Mart and Sears).

Wal-Mart's shares have not been valued over $55 US Dollars for quite a while so they are desperate.

Does Wal-Mart do good things for people and have they improved ?
YES, but not without problems

Samuel Robson Walton only cares for net profit and improves the corporation because of legal obligation and public opinion and he does not improve pro-actively.

He and the Executive Board do everything legally to keep a lot of the net profit.

Wal-Mart has a lot of unwritten rules and prefer their associates in not knowing company policies which the corporations only follows to mainly protect money.

Wal-Mart makes their money
1) Cutting/lowering Payroll is on the top three of priorities,

2) Forcing people to wait one year before qualifying for health and dental insurance,

3) Having to wait 7 years before becoming 100% vested otherswise they have to share profits,

4) Understaffing; undermployment such as part-time instead of full time and underpay,

5) Hiring Part-Timers instead of Full-Timers to maximize pay roll.

6) Buying cheap tools and software and enjoying easy tax write-offs,

7) The less people that retire the more money they keep

8) always legally reformulating accounting practices,

9) started a "club' within a "club." it means that every department has to pay rent and their tools. the managers do not pay for their office space and their supplies.

10) really stupid regulations such as the door greeter not allowed moving off a pad.

11) Delaying repairs on equipment and holding on supplies.

12) The highest position in the accounting field is called Actuarial and Wal-Mart maximizes them to the fullest.

AND

13) Their exlanation for not giving decent pay is that management has to resport profits to the shareholders and the Walton Family (The owners of Wal-Mart) own about 61 percent, the Board of Directors own about 15 to 20 percent and the rest to miscellaneous.

This may be a reason why Wal-Mart really makes a great net profit.

They HAVE an anti-union staff to go were people want to form a union.

Tom Coughlin who was the second in charge at Wal-Mart alleged that they had anti-union accounts hidden around and conduct aggressive training for managers to stiffel the creation of a union at Wal-mart.
Mr. Coughlin was betrayed by the Code of Silence and fear that they would be fired if they told the truth.

In September 2006 Wal-Mart stopped giving merit raises.

Promotions are stagnant and only what managers that exploit rather than give opportunities.

All of their improvements come from legal action.

If Wal-Mart kept a lot of what the founders promises of improving their life through intelligent and long hours of work, the associates would not get better raises, BUT better bonuses

If Wal-Mart wants to improve, then they should
find ways of improving giving bonuses in a way that bankruptcy is avoided.

Samuel Robson Walton does not have to act like his dad, but only cares about making money for himself.

No. It is probably just for convenience, in the case that large trucks need fuel. Also, it could be for RV's. In my area the Walmart parking lot is sometimes full of them.

No, I don't think so. In fact, many WalMart stores around the country are putting a stop to overnight truck parking because it seems many of these truckers are leaving their 2ltr, pop bottles filled with urine and other nasty piles in the parking lots for the employees to clean up, along with toilet paper and other garbage.
It takes but a few to screw it up for the many.
My wife and I travel in a small motor home, and have been refused overnight privileges because of these prior incidents at WalMart.
